Bluetooth Comm Adapter

Messing around with this piece:

It's nice! Rock solid stable, real time data transfer, I'm in the 5th hour or so of non-stop communications. It's an efianalytics.com (Phil Tobin, wrote Tuner Studio) piece available here: http://tunerstudio.c...lesandbluetooth.

Much better than a wire, I guess the only thing I don't like is how long it is but I can easily make a short cable for it so it can double back and be secured to the controller itself.

So, why spend the money? Oooohhh, China manufactured Android based double DIN car stereos:

Cheap (of course) but MSDroid can be downloaded as an app, you can set it up for real time gauge displays, tuning, on and on. Oh my!

Tuning and data recording on a tablet ?

And on your double din car stereo!

Not seeing any MAPdot noise, I'll run some tests. 20 hours straight with a drop.

  • 4 weeks later...

I've been using MSdroid and ShadowTuner with the bluetooth adapter on my Nexus for about 2 years now with zero issues.

Never thought of the bluetooth enabled stereos though!

BTW ShadowTuner has a heads up display option. Set my tablet on the dash and it reflects of the windshield surprisingly well for a heads up display.

hmm, if the android headunits had a rear USB port, i could just hook my cable to it lol.

i hate how big that bluetooth adapter is, i thought about getting a small unit, and soldering it inside the case, so i could use blue tooth or connect a cable

If you solder the BT inside the case I think you will have issues when you want to connect a cable. I know with a Y cable and BT plugged into one and a cable to the laptop on the other I cannot connect. It gives a com error. So you would have to have a way to disable the BT adapter in order to use the RS232 serial cable.

so i would need to add a small slide switch to disable it

i dont have the money to do it right now anyway lol
