Hey guys.

So my rear hatch has two problems.

1. The right side lifter is broken. A new one is on the way.

2. The driver side latch won't unlock the hatch. More specifically....it unlocks half of the hatch (the left side). The right side won't unlock.

Could this be due to the faulty lifter? Not sure if it relies on the lifter to "unlock".

What is the unlocking mechanism that the latch in the car uses? I think it is just a cable.

It's a cable. Leave it open and have someone pull the handle and observe what the mechanism does

if the rear hatch struts don't work or lost their strength to hold the hatch open it will not pop open enough to clear the latch.

check FAQ there is a great video of some rebuilt hatch struts in action.

Ok, this was my initial thought, especially since it was the same side.

I have a brand new strut coming in so I'll pop that in and see if it fixes it.

edit: Nevermind I don't have one coming in....just got an email telling me the order was canceled because they don't have any anymore :(

I'm gonna email Strutwise right now.

Good news is that Frank from Strutwise got back to me and he can still work on them.
