After 4yrs of mfg this kit with stellar results, it seems that members are now reporting fitment issues with the '83 hood because of the side vents.  Here are a couple of mods that will help alleviate the problem, but may not entirely fix the issue due to hole and hood bracket mounting placement during initial install.  Further, the hood bracket design has evolved through 4 iterations in 4 years, which drives hole placement location differences.  These mods will help get the hood flush with the fender, but may not entirely resolve the issue:

Posted Image

Remove the factory '83 stud and nut from the side vents and replace with an M6x5mm pan head bolt

Posted Image

The heat shield can get in the way (see the yellow interference dye on the strut and heat shield).

Posted Image

Note the orientation of the heat shield retainer clip.  In the orientation shown above, it does not make contact with the strut body.

I am working with another good SQC member to try a few other minor refinements to resolve this "flush hood fit" issue so stay tuned.....

I didn't know his number, I just message him on Facebook. I know he isn't a bad vendor or unreasonable as many have dealt with him without issue. My asking for my money back for the group purchase is nothing against him nor do I have any bad feelings. It's just a business principle.

If he had kept everyone updated more it would seem less shady. Even if it's stuff in his personal life going on he doesn't have to give details just say "hey I'm in a bad spot just let me work through it." We're all brothers in this Conquest game. We stick together.

I agree with you and really not putting blame anywhere,  but he does have a business with a legit phone number so why not just call him??     I don't  have any business with him, but if I was in the same shoes, i would call him before posting to be leery about dealings   It's not like he vanished off the earth.   I do agree that he should provide updates, but again I am not in any transaction at the moment.

I just received some really nice install photos from Patrick ( a NW member), who swapped a competitor's kit for our hood strut kit and reported that he's happy with the results......best example of a durban I've ever seen!
