Well I was advised to go td06, I thought it would be to laggy, built a td05h.   Well I ended up trying a td06sl2.... It's better in every way, and my only regret was not going td06h.

Spool is almost the same, mpg is up, tems are down, pre turbo back pressure is down and performance is up

That is on the future list for me.  What compressor did you go with.

Tdo6 is great. I'd like to have tried the SL2 just never got one.
The 06H might make the side walls on the stock housing too thin
Possibly causing it to crack. With the 3 inch exhaust no cats spool
Lag is minimal.

Yeah exact reason I went td06sl2, but I am working on a adapter to use subaru exhaust housing so i think the 06h wheel is the next mod.

How many blades your 06 wheel have?

some would say don't waste time with any of the small mitsu turbos, as the 2.6 has no problem to spinup holsets, gt35, etc
bigger hotsides = less restriction, run less boost, easier tune, more potential
at some time, plan for a header if u gettin serious

don't forget clipping is a proven option (Forced, evergreen, performance techniques, buschur....)
No need to hog out a housing too thin

aftermarket wheels add a new twist as well. Billet 7 blade '20G' + 9 blade td05/8cm has hit mid 500s on a evo

Do not pair a clipped 05h with a 18g or 20g on a quest. You will not be happy. The 9 blade is unproven in the the quest 05h turbine housing. I would like to see some one try it. Another question that needs answered is weather the 06 sl2 will out preform the standard 06 turbine.

I tried a 05h 15* clip with a 18g compressor. Surge city. The standard 06 out spooled and outperformed it by 40 50 hp.

TD06 is long gone. I am running a turbonetics 60-1.
Turbine side is a T3 believe it is a stage 3? Not sure.
It is a F1 - 57 trim for sure.

dunno if anyone intended to clip the 05. If the 06h machines housings too thin, clip the 06

You'd think if the 18 surged on these 2.6s, quicker spooling wouldn't make it worse ? Do plain ol' td05/18g surge bad on 2.6s also ?

I ran 18g td05 pretty boost spike prone. Car sounded like a 500" Caddilac motor with a stock caddy muffler.

I ran 18g td05h car ran good, turbine limited max power to 300 hp

Tried the 15* 05h clip, car was a little lazy getting into and at low boost. Then it would hit it's sweet spot and start to pull hard only go in to extreme surge a second or two later. Even in at the track it was hard to keep the rpms high enough to get past the surge.

Standard 06 was way better all around, still some occasional surge. So when I went to the 20g I went with a surge ported cover. That worked really well

Went mpi , and if I get to far into boost at to low of an rpm I think it surges or pushes open the bov. Sounds way different, easy to avoid or I just lift a little.

Bear in mind my street tune is 26-27 psi, E85 car

useful info for those 2.6 turbos. The majority probably won't run 'em hard enough to surge
