wrngwae
Here at GNT,,, we have been asked a few time,,,, " Do you need the factory steels" and well the answer is yes. and here is a how to.... First remove your factory mounts. they will probably look like this..........http://i1170.photobucket.com/albums/r521/wrngwae/Mobile%20Uploads/image-23.jpg i started by warming up the steel a little bit to soften it,,,, nothing crazy just yet,,,, lolhttp://i1170.photobucket.com/albums/r521/wrngwae/Mobile%20Uploads/image-24.jpg now i took a shoe knife and sliced off the rubber...http://i1170.photobucket.com/albums/r521/wrngwae/Mobile%20Uploads/image-25.jpg and it comes out like this.....http://i1170.photobucket.com/albums/r521/wrngwae/Mobile%20Uploads/image-26.jpg now for the part that has the bushings in it. i warmed it up and used some pliers. twist it till it becomes free.http://i1170.photobucket.com/albums/r521/wrngwae/Mobile%20Uploads/image-27.jpghttp://i1170.photobucket.com/albums/r521/wrngwae/Mobile%20Uploads/image-28.jpg Then heat up and slice like before. note this steel has a taper to it. and note the direction. it can also not be used if you choose not to use it.... its all a personal choice. but for here..... were gonna use it.http://i1170.photobucket.com/albums/r521/wrngwae/Mobile%20Uploads/image-29.jpg now, lets pour on the heat a little,,,, burn the rubber off,,,,note,,,there hot.... lol.. ask me how i know.http://i1170.photobucket.com/albums/r521/wrngwae/Mobile%20Uploads/image-30.jpghttp://i1170.photobucket.com/albums/r521/wrngwae/Mobile%20Uploads/image-31.jpg Now,,, let them cool. and off to the blast cabinet. or if you dont have one you can sand or scrape the residue off.http://i1170.photobucket.com/albums/r521/wrngwae/Mobile%20Uploads/image-32.jpg and they kinda come out like this. i needed to blast a bit more but good enough for demonstration.http://i1170.photobucket.com/albums/r521/wrngwae/Mobile%20Uploads/image-33.jpg now, for some self etching primer,,,http://i1170.photobucket.com/albums/r521/wrngwae/Mobile%20Uploads/image-34.jpghttp://i1170.photobucket.com/albums/r521/wrngwae/Mobile%20Uploads/image-35.jpg and paint,,,,,,,,,,http://i1170.photobucket.com/albums/r521/wrngwae/Mobile%20Uploads/image-36.jpg now there dry enough to handle,, re assemble.http://i1170.photobucket.com/albums/r521/wrngwae/Mobile%20Uploads/image-38.jpghttp://i1170.photobucket.com/albums/r521/wrngwae/Mobile%20Uploads/image-39.jpghttp://i1170.photobucket.com/albums/r521/wrngwae/Mobile%20Uploads/image-40.jpg And thats how its done. re install back in your car. and go for a spirited,,non clunking ride.
