  1. Well I did not mod the car myself it came this way. I took a look at the wastegate tonight, its a 3 plug wastegate, port A was connected port B closed and port C had nothing on it. When I get some more light Im going to get the vacuum lines fixes and run some tests. Guess Ill be running to HF to get a vacuum boost pump to check the wastegate also. Right now I just want this thing to run reliably. Thanks for all your guys help and information, much appreciated.
  2. Ok, compressor surge, Ill look into the turbo and see whats up. I don't drive the car very hard at all since I just took it out of storage. I have no idea how much boost it is running, no boost controller, or boost gauge in this car yet. Just the stock crap one. I do know a couple of fins had some nicks in them, ill update with a photo in the next day or so. Can I replace it with any BOV or does it have to be the same one? Price range?
  3. Since day 1 my car has been making this "whistle" sound when shift, I would say its timed about when you'd expect a BOV to vent. Its does it only under boots and I'm a little concerned right now although. Ive attached a sample of the sound, right around the 4 sec mark you'll hear it. You might have to turn up your volume a bit my cellphone does such a wonderful job of audio recording. If anyone could possible diagnosis or give point me in the general direction it would be much appreciated.   4. Bought a stock exhaust off of Johnny, after the paypal screw up(my issue) he had it shipped. When I received it, on time, with a tracking number it was packaged really well. Great guy to do business with. Responded to my PMs in a very timely manner as well.
  5. Heres my dilema, my audi is currently down, and Ive been borrowing another family members car, Id like to get my quest running but I need a complete exhaust on it. It currently just has a 2.5" downpipe and it way to loud to drive. I have looked into getting one of jolyrgrs SS exhaust, but I understand he busy with RL, so thats understandable and is not an option. I am willing to weld up my own exhaust, Ive never welded anything but i have researched it alot, thing is I dont know the dimension of the factory exhaust (bends angles etc) to know how many of what type of bends to order(trying to save $) plus Ill need a welder and chop saw. So the final question is does anyone know any local shops in the Dayton-Springfield,OH are that will do a SS409/304 exhaust from the turbo back?

  7. Lurking around and saw your post about. Id be interested in a set. My passenger frame rail is quite rusted. My interest depends on how much of course and how much of the frame rail are you talking about 2ft, 3ft? Thanks for taking interest in doing this.
  8. Sorry its late, Im not some fresh out of high school newb.Im old like bha280.... In regards to TBI, I figure as much but I just want to be sure. As far as engine building, I guess I cant do that with a 10mm socket and I dont want to waste $ on new tools unless those tool are going to cost alot less than a shop to do it, does anyone know someone local in the Dayton,OH area who is familiar with these engines? I'd rather not bring a block to just any old shop.
  9. Let me add that I'm 30 something, and in my occupation sigh....school is never over... heh I made it sound like I was 20ish. So I've finally bought another quest. My 2nd car out of high school was an sweet stock 87 that I loved alot until I hydroplaned into a highway sign. I had the opportunity to buy a decent 88 TSI with a few mods and I started to think about what I really want out of this car. I really want to keep the car as close to what it fundamentally means to be a conquest(2.6, SOHC, RWD, TBI, etc) I would like some honest reasonable opinions on a few ideas I have. 1. 500hp/600tq on TBI, from what I've read here, I havent seen any posts of a conquest on TBI with that much hp/tq, is it even reasonable to expect TBI to deliver that much fuel/power(assuming you upgrade all other systems ie ignition, turbo, intercooler, MAF, etc) 2. I am not a mechanic but I can learn anything quickly, how difficult is it to build up a g54b short block with new parts? 3.Which would be more cost effective? to squeeze every last hp out of a TBI, and try to get 500hp/600tq or upgrade to MPI?
  10. Hate for this to be my first post but I m more of a lurker in here, since its been a while since I owned a SQ. I love the SQs so I decided to post here first instead of a honda forum. I need this thing out of my garage,I have hoped for so long that I could repair it but life will not cooperate with me on it. Basically a 89 crxsi stripped down, nothing much left excpet the engine(270k miles on it), transmission and body. Body has the "normal" crx rust at the rear wheels and some on the inside bumpers not sure about underneath but it has been garaged for about 2 years now. I parted out most of the interior and some electrical wiring from the engine so the car will have to be towed or trailered. Its free to anyone who wants to load it up. I have a good title for it and an extra rust free passenger side door.
