Hi everyone, I'm hoping to become part of the club soon!

I grew up listening to my dad and uncles' import racing stories from the 80s and many models of cars (Japanese) were name dropped, but the one that always stood out to me the most was my dad's best friend's blue Conquest that he could never beat with his turbo Rotary.
Since then, I've always thought they were some of the coolest cars out there, but never could find any to own.

I currently drive a Miata for fun and daily drive a Honda Fit, but I'm deadset on replacing the Mazda with a Starion very soon!

Nice to meet you all!

I've been keeping an eye out for one anywhere I can find, not too much luck so far.
My only qualm with eBay is that the chance of being an out of state car is pretty high and I'm going to have to deal with CA smog (luckily, at least once)

I see StarQuest for sale ads in Bay area more often than in the LA area. San Diego area usually has some up for sale here and there.

My suggestion, don't buy a complete project. Find a nice running one. Yes it will cost you more up front. But its better in the long run in all aspects, as you'll actually enjoy driving from day one. Complete projects to new owners often end up in disappointment amd people just walking away all together from the car.

Good luck!

very good advice here. Get one that runs decent to well, so you can get a feel for how fun they can be to drive even in stock form. Just maintenance and TLC on a 30 year old car is plenty to do if you work and have any other commitments.

I'm in no rush, so I'm patiently looking for a good example of one!

Ideally it'd be a manual, white or silver 88/89

I picked up my new SQ today!
I flew down to SoCal and drove it back up; the first time I've driven the 5 and was not bored to death

It's an '88 SHP

Looks nice! Its obvious that it's had a some recent love... Fresh air dam. Haha!

I do not understand why every Starquest has had the bumper ripped to hell and back... Even low mileage (50k like mine) examples and the air damn looks beat to death.

For me, this car has shattered the notion of "never meet your heroes"

I really love driving it and looking at it, lol
