Don't forget to change cam and crankshaft oil seals this time around with the timing belt change - looks like they weren't done at the last change.

here is a pic of the repaired fog light, only harry really knows what it looked like before but the glass was cracked and had a small hole in it. removed the glass and cut a piece of lexan for it and now its good as new. :) you can kind of see in the headlight pics how the passenger side was discolored.

The Acura got a X-mas present in the mail today....lol.

Pioneer shallow mount 8" subwoofer to replace the factory 8" sub, it will be run by a small Pioneer amp i have. the factory sub is in the rear deck and the new sub will mount right where the factory one does so it will be completely stealth and you wont even see it....you will just hear it. :)
Posted Image
Posted Image

i am waiting on the amp install kit to get here and i need to order some sound deadening material because i want to cover the whole rear deck with it because this sub will have a lot more punch then the factory sub so i want to make sure i dont get any rattling from the rear deck.

stay tuned for install pics :)

yep we still love the car :)  i cant wait for the holidays to be over so i can start getting the new sub installed. i will have to remove the rear seat and the rear deck shelf and i am going to be installing sound deadening material so it will be apart for a couple days while i am doing the work.

then come tax time its going to get a whole bunch of loving since i dont own a quest that will be sucking my wallet dry

BUT....i still miss the flatty.

got the party started today on replacing the factory subwoofer.....not a fun project.

i had to remove the entire rear seat and rear shelf just to be able to see the factory subwoofer, with all the bolts and clips and panels that i had to remove this took about two hours.
Posted Image

hiding under all that and under yet another little trim peice you can finally see the factory subwoofer just peeking through.
Posted Image

here is what it looks like from the under neath side of the rear shelf inside the trunk.
Posted Image

factory sub removed.
Posted Image

factory sub next to the new Pioneer shallow mount sub going in its place.
Posted Image
Posted Image
Posted Image

the new sub is a little smaller then the opening for the factory sub so i had to make a small adapter piece from a 5/8 piece of plywood.
Posted Image

now the wood will mount with screws from the bottom to the metal and the sub will mount to the piece of wood. and there is still plenty of clearance room between it and the rear shelf trim piece.
Posted Image

and thats where i had to stop for today because candi had to go to work. i plan to coat the whole rear shelf with sound deadening material to eliminate any rattles and help isolate the sound waves to stay inside the cabin. so stay tuned for more.

that factory subwoofer tho. How do honda get such good sound from those featherweight and wierd looking speakers?
Tiny magnet + voice coil 'inside' the basket = a 'real shallow mount'
Wonder why the aftermarket don't offer such designs. Makes sooo much sense for an automobile imo
Nice ride

i have actually put the factory sub back in the rear deck and moved the Pioneer sub to a box in the trunk. i was trying to avoid a box and thats why i attempted the sub in the rear deck but even with the sound deadening material it just had way too many rattles.

so it has the factory sub running again plus the Pioneer running so it has a lot more sound now and has a better sound quality overall. if i had to do it over again i would have never messed with the factory sub. the car has a 10 speaker Bose system in it from the factory so it already sounds amazing i just wanted a little more bass.

i need to get some updated pics.

yeah it does work and works just fine.....but i listen to a lot of stuff with super heavy bass tones like Bass Mechanik and the factory sub just cant handle the 30-40hz bass tones so i tried to upgrade it. the pioneer sounded really good in the rear shelf but it just created way too many rattles because there are so many things attached to the rear deck. (rear vent shade, dvd unit, factory amp, things like that were rattling)

if i would have started with the box first i would have went a completely different route with my aftermarket subwoofer selection. we live and we learn. :)

but yes it was a LOT of wasted effort...lol.
