Erratic Lights

I'm having some weird issues with the Headlights and Fog Lights on my car, and was wondering if someone could help point me in the right direction on where to start.

 

Headlights:

 

- Turns on/Flips up with no problems; In-synch with one another.

 

- Turns off erratically.

- WILL NOT turn off by simply pressing the "Off" button.

- I have to hold down the "Off" button, and repeatedly tap the headlight button for it to *work it's way* down.

- Headlights will not close in synch with one another. (One will close more than the other.)

 

Fog Lights:

 

- Will not turn on by pressing the "Fog Light" button. (I have not found a pattern on how to make the fog lights turn on, but the light itself does come on when randomly pushing through the light buttons. )

 

Will try to provide a video of this bizarre light activity. Thank you kindly.

my guess is the headlight switch on dash is bad

 

foglights r you sure the bulbs r good if so could be switch as well or the relay ( under air box )

the fog lights ground them selves in the housing, alot of times the housing will get rusty and the bulb can not ground. try cleaning that.

 

you can also take your headlight switch out and take it apart to clean it. fixed my issue. my headlights wouldnt go down.

I agree with Tman in the head lights bad or dirty

 

 

The fog light will only work if your head lights are on.

 

There is wiring mod to change the operation of the fog lights

Fog relay is bad or messed up inside corrosion and such. A good quick test is swap another relay in there and see if that fixes the issue. Find all the grounds and clean them thats the big one. The random lights off sympton is a common one, i had that happen to me on two different cars and cleaning all the grounds fixed it.
