  1. Hi I've recently-ish got my quest running and drivable and am still sorting out lots of kinks, but to the problem. Whenever I get into over 3lbs of boost the damn things spews smoke terribly out the exhaust. Now obviously when and if I drive the thing I baby it and try to stay out of boost as much as I can. I know, no fun But could my seals in the turbo be bad? If so would it be probable to buy a cheap $200 ebay turbo to throw on for the summer? My dad can make an adapter pretty easily. Thanks, Kipp
  2. Thanks for the reply. Yes, hindsight is 20/20 on our engine choice. I still have the original engine. The plan was to get the car going and then build something we could throw power at without worrying about it. We used yamabond sealant. But maybe something slipped out of place. My thoughts are leaning toward the chain cover didn't seal.
  3. Hello, New to the board but hoping someone could give me some suggestions as to why I have a MAJOR coolant leak. I have an 1989 conquest tsi. We bought the car as a project, but it was complete, with a running but knocking motor. My dad located a running g54b in a 87 Mazda b2600. We heard it run and bought it. My dad changed over the parts from the conquest block to the new one, replacing all the timing components And gaskets. We did not pull the head though. After we got the engine in the car and hooked everything up we fired it up and noticed an immediate water leak that is filling the oil pan in a very short time. On the new motor,we had the timing chain cover off, but thought we took great care in reinstalling a new gasket. Could a leaking timing chain cover cause the motor to fill with coolant that quick, and leak into the pan without it even running? We are looking for any other possibilities before we pull the head and maybe the motor. Thanks for any help!
