What is it about these cars that make them so addicting?

Boost no being an option, since you can even get a Civic thats boosted. But you ever wonder what can make these cars so... addicting? I mean I wrecked one, and bought another one within a few months. jahjah sold his because he was starting a family. When he got the okay from his wifie to get another project car, he went straight for another Starion/Conquest ( he even called me asking me if I knew of any for sale ). I know numerous other members have sold theirs, regretted it and or they just come back with another one.

So care to share your thoughts on what you might think make these cars more addicting than cocaine?

1. i love the styling i cannot say enough about it.

2. they are a very fun car to drive.

3. the smell of the interior. every one i have owned has had the same smell inside.

4. having a car that people say what is that.

5. non interference engine.

6. the community.

7. they are in my opinion fairly easy to work on. i can change the sparkplugs in minutes instead of hours.

8. the people who will come up to you and say such and such owned one and i remember how much fun we had.

9. rear wheel drive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

10. being able to say my 4 ate your 8 and mean it.

We all suffer from "Battered Wife Syndrome!" We take the abuse and just keep coming back for some more! Heck, some of us aren't satified w/ one batterer, we get another....I got two abusers!! The 87 Red is the roughest!

wide bodied

baller low offset wheels

big motor

rwd

light weight (compared to other RWD cars with similar power)

tunable and easy to work on

continual project car

all u need is 30, 24, 22, 19, 17, 14, 12, 10, and 8mm end wrenches, shallow and deep sockets in both 1/2" and 1/4" for everthing under 22mm and over 12mm. Plus three different sized extentions.

good balance

the community

looks like something out of Seinfeld

My interior [when I had one] was perfect as well. Then again, I did change the seats and had them fixed. I kept the car extremely clean on the inside, the outside was great except for the rust that was on the front fender on the passenger side. That would make me cringe every time I saw it.

I'd say it's primarily that these cars are just plain awesome looking. The power is there, and working on them is not ultra difficult. I learned a lot of stuff I never knew before by working on the SQ.

i think its the fact that when sitting at a stop light you have a 99% chance your the only quest for miles. unlike my honda, sittin at a stop light i got 99% chance there are two more hondas sittin at the light with me, with both of them wanting to race me. most of the time in the quest they stare in amazement cause they dont even know what it is.

how many people wish they had a dollar for everytime you heard "NICE SUPRA"

not ot mention the EASE of being able to take a totally stock one and beat most any tuner car around.

Nailed it on first response, imo. I also like that the clutch pedal takes some lactic acid to push down, unlike so many other cars where you dont even know for sure if you are pushing on the clutch or if your foot missed the pedal completely.)

I think that the fact that these cars need us has something to do with it.

I have put so much time and money keeping it on the road that I'm now pot committed.

You have to have some type of competitive personality to own one. It is me against the car and by God I'm going to win.

It's kind of like breaking a wild stallion. (no pun intended)

averse my clutch is like pushing on air, always has been. i drive trucks around though.

I think all the little things. i love 80s styling. the features, the looks from inside the car. the sounds, tones, beeps, pop up headlights. the rumble that sounds like a tractor. Its just really fun to drive, even slow!

easy to work on , fun to mod, great to own knowing even new there werent many just like mine:)

oh and the smell

its funny my nephew came to visit last month and he had no idea i had this car(his dad had it at his house where i picked it up). I asked if he remembered the car(hes 15 now and ive had it since he was 9) and he said not really, but once he smelled the interior he was like, oh i love that car:)

I LOVE THESE CARS. WHEN I WAS 19 I SAW ONE, DIDNT KNOW WHAT IT WAS THEN. IN 2006 I WAS OFFERED A FLATTY FOR $400.00, BOUGHT IT AND WENT ON TRYING TO GET IT RUNNING. SPENT A YEAR FINDING OUT ALL I COULD AND LEARNED AS MUCH AS I COULD. BOUGHT A 87 WIDEBODY FOR $400.00 BEEN SITTINS AROUND BACK OF THE LOCAL DODGE DEALERSHIP(WINDOWS LEFT DOWN,BODY/ENGINE GOOD) IN JULY OF 2007 I BOUGHT A 87 WIDEBODY OUT OF NEW YORK(BAD IDEA), HAD REAL LOW MILES BUT A LITTLE RUST. MY GIRLFREIND DROVE IT, THEN SHE NAMED IT AND WITHIN 3 MONTHS STOLD IT. SHE LOOKED ON EBAY TILL SHE FOUND A GOOD BUY, A RED 89 SHP, AND CONVINCED ME TO BUY IT.(SO BOTH OF US CAN DRIVE ONE) IF THAT WASNT ENOUGH 3 MONTHS AGO WE BOTH BREAK DOWN AND BOUGHT THE SWEETEST,NICEST,HOTTEST QUEST IVE EVER SEEN.

ADDICTIVE IS NOT THE WORD, OBSESSION IS. BETWEEN 2006 AND 2008 I HAVE BOUGHT 5 QUESTS, SPENT IN EXCESS OF $18,000 DOLLARS. IS IT WORTH IT HELL YES. [EVERY PENNY]

Body styling...... You don't really see anything like them on the road today. They were built to compete in the car sales market against the 944. How many of those do you still see on the road????? I myself, love the 1987 ESI-R Black leather interior, fits me perfect. I can say one thing.... It sure in the hell isn't the low cost of performance parts lol.

So true because I came home last night in an 87 Quest and my wife didn't know I was getting it and boy was she mad this morning when she saw it outside.
