  1. Happy Birthday Ryddler! Sorry I'm late,..don't get out to much any more.
  2. Do exactly what Indiana said in his first post.
  3. Anyone know what manafacture sells the tri-metal bearing? All that I've found are the bi-metal type. One thing to make note of is that the manafacturing process has changed greatly over the last 20+ years. A bi-metal bearing made today would be much better that the one made 20+ years ago. Differant materials today. But I'm still a fan of the tri-metal type.
  4. Mobil 1 and a Wix oil filter. I use those in everything I own including the push mower, riding mower, and all cars and trucks. Also a note on Zinc. Seems that most engine oils made after Jan 2007 doesn't have the required Zinc. http://www.aera.org/eptb/TB2333R.pdf
  5. The Clevite bearing catalog I have dated 2007 states AL-3 (bi-metal). The 2005 catalog did state TM-77 (tri-metal) but it was a typo. The new 2011 bearing catalog doesn't even show the 2.6L engine. !!! Correction! The 2005 catalog wasn't a typo. I had it marked out and written in AL material. Just after the catalog was printed is when Clevite changed the material.
  6. Trust me Bill. They are bi-metal from Clevite. Been that way for several years now. Unless you have old stock more that 5 or 10 years old.
  7. Clevite rod and main bearings are steel backed with aluminum alloy (bi-metal). Some years ago they were a trimetal bearing but have since changed. There are pros and cons with bi-metal ver. tri-metal bearings. I prefer trimetal bearings myself. I read somewhere that ACL had tri-metal bearings. But one member here ordered some in that were bi-metal. I have yet to find tri-metal bearings for the 2.6L engine. When you change the bearing set-up on a bearing from a grooved upper bearing only to a full grooved bearings you increase oil supply. But decrease surface area for the crankshaft to ride on. I know some engine builders that have had issues with rod bearings on a small block chevy and they would go with full grooved main bearings. That would double the oil supply to the rods, but decrease the surface area for the mains. I don't see why you would want a grooved rod bearing. Also the upper rod bearing half is the load side. And the lower main bearing half is the load side. They are usually the half to wear out first. In the pic shown above it looks like the bearing were installed wrong, and there was trash in the oil.
  8. What he said. Removing the Batt. while engine is running could fry the Alt. I've run an engine for a few days without the Alt. with no issues. Also on some engines when the battery gets below 10 or 11 volts the computer won't work.
  9. Same here. Also the Carquest filters are made by WIX. Carquest Blue is same as Napa Gold. I think I have the color correct.
  10. I also may be able to get cartridges. So post part numbers if possible on those also.
  11. I may have a lead on getting NEW turbos. If possible I need OEM, and other manafactures parts numbers on turbos. I'll need numbers from the 12a up to the 20G turbos. If this works out Dad would be the contact on buying them. We'll let you know if it's going to happen.
  12. Not as bad as stated on the news. Needs another 30 feet before it floods Beale St. But a few hundred homes are flooded at this time. Steve should be OK. I know where he lives and he isn't in danger for now.
  13. BTW a stock cam journal should be 1.3386 +/- .0007. With .002 - .0035 oil clearance.
