  1. Glad ther mark was still there. Best way I have found to verify TDC was to get a roller wheel for my dial indicator along with an extension. I see they are using them to true bicycle wheels, so they are pretty common. http://www.dansmc.com/rim_side.jpg
  2. I found an original set of plug wires from an '86 I used to have. These things are used and old, but they are dated if someone happens to be restoring one and wants original plug wires. They look like they may have had that stuff used car dealers spray in the engine compartment to make everything look shiny, but now it's dull and flaking off a bit. I was going to toss them, but figured I ask here first. I don't have the coil wire. The distributor cap is not original and I plan to toss that to make shipping costs cheaper. I'll sell these for $10 shipped Priority mail. Basically shipping costs plus a couple bucks http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad27/RealmSteel/20150906_215717_zps7sumtgmr.jpg http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad27/RealmSteel/20150906_215736_zpslbmcmnp2.jpg
  3. Thanks. It's been a while that's for sure. I see you just picked up a nice ride. I've thought about getting another one, but I'd get wrapped up too much and it would take over my life again. These magazines are pretty cool.
  4. During our move, I found these in with my magazines. I've read through these many times and I'd like to pass them on. These came from Australia. Issue numbers: 48, 49, 59 & 61 They are in very good shape. I'd like $30 shipped for all 4. http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad27/RealmSteel/1988%20Conquest/20150518_2117451_zpsinzyemjh.jpg
  5. Cool. I'll be mailing it out today. The 86 manual sold a couple days ago.
  6. Both manuals have sold. .....SOLD....SOLD......SOLD.... I found a couple owners manuals I had stored in a cabinet. I put them up on eBay for Buy it now if anyone here is interested. '86 Conquest - Very Good condition http://www.ebay.com/itm/231486829541?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649 '88 Starion - Pretty worn cover http://www.ebay.com/itm/231486830657?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
  7. Wow. Old thread revive. I can't believe it's been almost 10 years. IIRC, those wire came with both types of dist. cap connectors. Yep. from Summit's page: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/msd-31199 Distributor Terminal Ends: Male/HEI and Female/Socket
  8. Stock head bolts are reusable. One way to tell if head bolts are reusable is to look how they are tightened. If the manual says to torque the bolts and then give them an additional turn to some degree, those are "torque to yield" and they are not reusable. If you just torque them to some specific value and thats it, they are reusable. Having to go back and retighten the bolts after a couple heat cycles does not mean the bolts can not be reused. (Don't confuse that with torque to yield) If you are going to pull the head off and replace the head gasket, just buy a new head gasket. You don't need a full kit. One trick I always did was pull the head with the intake and exhaust manifolds still attached. It either takes two people or pull the hood off and get up top with a foot on the inside of each fender. Saves a crapload of hassle trying to get the manifold off. Head studs are nice, but you will need to clearance the valve cover for them. Another very minor issue is it takes a little finagling to get the head past the timing gear. Id recommend head studs, but at this point, get the car on the road and get the studs later when you do some other upgrades.
  9. This may work. http://www.oreillyau...N0824&ppt=C0391 Or better yet: http://www.phase2motortrend.com/1bstonptad.html
  10. Go to the store and buy the copper oil pressure line. The plastic line does not hold up to the heat. You will also either need an adapter or tap the port in the block using 1/8NPT. The adapter is 1/8 BSPP. Autozone used to sell a kit with a bunch of adapters that has the one that will work. Technically the threads in the block are not BSPP, but that adapter works fine
  11. Northern Tool has a nice little setup for about $200. Check with a local gas supplier to see what they might have. You will have to go there to fill your tanks anyway. I have a small setup similar to the Craigs list one and I haven't needed to fill the tanks for years. Don't use it much, but when I need something more than the Map gas torch, it's there and does the job. I'd say that Craigs list ad it too much. If he take $200 and the gauges work smooth, then it's probably good. If you want to see a full range of equipment, check out www.harrisweldingsupply.com They have a very good pricing. If you buy a new setup, there will be instructions that show you how to adjust the regulators properly and how to use it. Make sure to always were dark safety glasses even when just heating up rusted bolts. You don't need #8 lenses for heating up things, but make sure to protect your eyes. Always shut off your tanks when not in use. One small leak and you'll be wondering what happened to your gas next time you go to use them. For the home it doesn't matter much, but Propylene gas is cheaper and works fairly close to acetylene. The problem is you need to use different hose, regulator and tips than acetylene.
  12. Don't forget about the Sakura Racing Starion.
  13. There was a part of me that wondered if it was you. I couldn't remember your name. I replied to your PM.
  14. I have a complete stock exhaust from my '88 and a steering column from an old '86 you can have free.(I think the wiper stalk is still on it.) I live in St. Charles. I probably have a few other things still laying around you can have. Let me know if you are interested.
