But i feel as if the dizzy is completely ruled out now. Wiring from connector to the pickup is perfect and the pickup ohms out good.

Inside of my known good ignitor, looks like it got some water in it at some point and doesn’t smell too hot 🙄🙄

Yeah, I let my engines get a bit dirty because I always have issues after I wash them. LoL! Of course I could wrap up the dizzy and ignitor first.

Traded for new set of tires for my wife's Buick: '87 TSI Gold that needs just about all steering and suspension parts replaced, injectors, a new transmission, clutch, and various electrical gremlins. New owner is a mechanic who is already driving it. I couldn't stand letting it sit any more!

So it was brought to my attention that I could throw a msd 6al In here and ditch the stock ignitor completely. Is that correct?

Maybe on Phil’s site, www.sqperformance.com, you can run the dizzy pickup into the MSD using the “magnetic” input, the rest of the coil and CDI box wiring is out of the MSD manual.  Then you just have to get rpm input to the factory EVU.  I “think” you use the tach out from the CDI and the tach adapter to boost the signal to the factory ECU.  That’s the part I’m unsure of.
