This thread is long overdue, as I've had the car since October, and have been slowly working on it, but things seemed to have picked up this past week, so I felt it was time for a thread.

Now before any pics go up, I want to mention this car was destined for the scrape yard till I picked it up (getting a title for it in the next month or so), and to anyone else, this car would be junk.

I'm planning on using this for a DD, and for just plain fun, year round, as it should get better mileage than my ZR2 Blazer (I average 14-15mpg for my commute)

OH, and I only paid $200 for it, mostly there, tons of random parts inside, not all for this car, even had a newer civic tail light in it, HAHA

ANYWAY, first time I saw the car (commited to buy it site-unseen)

Frame rails all there

Looks like a good project. Was the title lost? Because I am looking at buying a car that the guy doesn't have a title too and I was wondering how much work it was to get one.

The guy I bought it from has a connection to get a title, That's about all I know

Cut and tacked a side piece in for the vents in the hood

With the help and motivation of Andrew (him starting on it while I'm still at work, hehe), we've started to replace and patch the floorboards

I'll start with a pic of what it was when I got the carpet removed

http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PB110512.jpg

SO, Andrew picked up a file cabinet, FOR FREE, to use the metal from for the floor boards.

I LOVE this file cabinet, and this little badge is going on the header panel...

http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1150198.jpg

and now to the patchwork

http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1150197.jpg

http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1150196.jpg

http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1150194.jpg

That was Wednesday night

Here was as of Yesterday

I know there are going to be haters on this part, but I've been working on the interior panels for the car as well.

I've got 89 Tan leather seats going in the car, shoulder seems ripped, that's about it, and that's a piece of Texuade fuax suede hanging on it, hehe

http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PB210035.jpg

A few already know about this, but for the most part, I'm doing a black and tan interior inverse.

http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PB300063.jpg

I'll leave it at that for the dash, lol

Also wrapped an 88-89 steering wheel I got from AndyW, Black Texuede faux suede

http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PC150103.jpg

http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PC150102.jpg

That's about 8-10 hours of hand stitching it on, it's all 1 piece, with a machine sewn seam at the bottom of the wheel, and the rest had to be hand stitched

Another thing I can't stand is pillar pods, so I sat in the car to figure out where I can put the wideband, boost, and Profec-B, and I love the outcome

Initial concept, but you couldn't see the faces

http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PC050071.jpg

http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PC050072.jpg

SO with that in mind, I redid the orientation of the gauges, and for the meantime, just set the profec-b to the side

YES, that's foamcore, this unit ended up being the plug for a mold, hehe

finished enclosing it with foamcore, then layered it with bondo, and began to shape it

http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PC140101.jpg

http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PC140100.jpg

http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PC140098.jpg

This was prior to the final coat of primer

http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PC170107.jpg

http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PC170104.jpg

After the final coat of primer, I sprayed it with clear lacquer, then wetsanded up to 1200, then polished it.

THEN, I cast it, here's the mold

first part being laid up

http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PC310169.jpg

Surface coat, and one layer of small highly overlapped square of glass cloth, untrimmed, weighed 140grams

trimming this was a PITA, but the stock trim piece snaps in, and the visors rest neatly

L to R, Plug, Mold, 1st part

http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1010172.jpg

Cut a hole for the profec B, it's a TIGHT fit to the headliner though

http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1060178.jpg

http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1060179.jpg

Haven't taken any pics of it in the car yet, even though it's installed right now, lol

Sending you much flatty love (as Harry would say )for this one, i admire the effort your putting into saving this 84 .

it's an 85, Oct 1984 build date though, and for the $200 purchase price, I couldn't resisted the urge to have a flatty :D

Sweet...The gun metal grey is the color I am doing mine in too....any led magic in works for it too Derek?

Not sure yet Robert, but it is going to get the TSX projectors if all goes to plan

The block is as the machine shop right now, it needs decked and bored out at minimum, I'm waiting on word on which pistons to order from Dad, but they will be Wiseco's, I've got the 12a off my 88 here that'll be going on the car, and I may get this new Magna head casting prepped to go on it.

I'll be doing a blow-thru MAFT setup on her as well.

Jeeze dude, I'm honestly proud to say I've shaken your hand and had a chance to talk to you. Truly a skilled innovator, can't wait to see where this goes.

That gunmetal and grabber green look is gonna be sick.

Also, I can has faux suede steering wheel?

I picked up one of mookeeh's "blem" front strut bars recently too, and it's on the car as well, but it might be necessary on this car. As the front strut toweres were 3/8" too close together before hand (comparison measurement from Andrew's car)

Here's the "blem" on the strut tower bar

http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1170204.jpg

First welding with the new welder (was still learning the welder a bit, so it's ugly). But this seem is/was separated on both sides, causing the towers to be that 3/8" too close together

http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1170203.jpg

Strut tower bars also make good hang points for the transmission, lol

http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1170201.jpg

http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1170202.jpg

About to pull the car out of the garage to change the oil on the Blazer, so I'll grab some more pics of her outside

wow, I  that gauge set up. Since you have it molded, will you be selling them? also are you just running the wires down the A pillars? I love all your gauge set ups, If you were to mold and sell them, I'd sure as hell come to you when I need a place to mount my gauges *thumbs up*
