D_Venable
This thread is long overdue, as I've had the car since October, and have been slowly working on it, but things seemed to have picked up this past week, so I felt it was time for a thread. Now before any pics go up, I want to mention this car was destined for the scrape yard till I picked it up (getting a title for it in the next month or so), and to anyone else, this car would be junk. I'm planning on using this for a DD, and for just plain fun, year round, as it should get better mileage than my ZR2 Blazer (I average 14-15mpg for my commute) OH, and I only paid $200 for it, mostly there, tons of random parts inside, not all for this car, even had a newer civic tail light in it, HAHA ANYWAY, first time I saw the car (commited to buy it site-unseen) Frame rails all therehttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P9300398.jpg http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P9300397.jpg no rear bumperhttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P9300396.jpg hmm, gonna have to rebuild the half shaftshttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/DSC02994.JPG 83,7XX miles http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/DSC02993.JPG head and VC were loose, needs rebuilt (decked and bored to be more precise)http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/DSC02991.JPG COWBELLS!http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/DSC02990.JPG http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/DSC02989.JPG http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/DSC02988.JPG

D_Venable
Looks like a good project. Was the title lost? Because I am looking at buying a car that the guy doesn't have a title too and I was wondering how much work it was to get one. The guy I bought it from has a connection to get a title, That's about all I know Cut and tacked a side piece in for the vents in the hoodhttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1130189.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1130190.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1130192.jpg
D_Venable
With the help and motivation of Andrew (him starting on it while I'm still at work, hehe), we've started to replace and patch the floorboards I'll start with a pic of what it was when I got the carpet removedhttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PB110512.jpg SO, Andrew picked up a file cabinet, FOR FREE, to use the metal from for the floor boards. I LOVE this file cabinet, and this little badge is going on the header panel... http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1150198.jpg and now to the patchworkhttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1150197.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1150196.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1150195.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1150194.jpg That was Wednesday night Here was as of Yesterdayhttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1150200.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1150199.jpg

D_Venable
I know there are going to be haters on this part, but I've been working on the interior panels for the car as well. I've got 89 Tan leather seats going in the car, shoulder seems ripped, that's about it, and that's a piece of Texuade fuax suede hanging on it, hehehttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PB210035.jpg A few already know about this, but for the most part, I'm doing a black and tan interior inverse. http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PB300063.jpg I'll leave it at that for the dash, lol Also wrapped an 88-89 steering wheel I got from AndyW, Black Texuede faux suedehttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PC150103.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PC150102.jpg That's about 8-10 hours of hand stitching it on, it's all 1 piece, with a machine sewn seam at the bottom of the wheel, and the rest had to be hand stitched Another thing I can't stand is pillar pods, so I sat in the car to figure out where I can put the wideband, boost, and Profec-B, and I love the outcome Initial concept, but you couldn't see the faceshttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PC050071.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PC050072.jpg SO with that in mind, I redid the orientation of the gauges, and for the meantime, just set the profec-b to the sidehttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PC050073.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PC050075.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PC060076.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PC060077.jpg Edited January 17, 2010 by D_Venable

D_Venable
YES, that's foamcore, this unit ended up being the plug for a mold, hehe finished enclosing it with foamcore, then layered it with bondo, and began to shape it http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PC140101.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PC140100.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PC140098.jpg This was prior to the final coat of primerhttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PC170107.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PC170106.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PC170105.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/PC170104.jpg After the final coat of primer, I sprayed it with clear lacquer, then wetsanded up to 1200, then polished it. D_Venable
I picked up one of mookeeh's "blem" front strut bars recently too, and it's on the car as well, but it might be necessary on this car. As the front strut toweres were 3/8" too close together before hand (comparison measurement from Andrew's car) Here's the "blem" on the strut tower barhttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1170204.jpg First welding with the new welder (was still learning the welder a bit, so it's ugly). But this seem is/was separated on both sides, causing the towers to be that 3/8" too close togetherhttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1170203.jpg Strut tower bars also make good hang points for the transmission, lolhttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1170201.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10030/P1170202.jpg About to pull the car out of the garage to change the oil on the Blazer, so I'll grab some more pics of her outside
