Halajcsik87
So, one of my friends has a 6G72 out of his Mitsubishi 3000GT VR4 that he offered to sell to me. Does anyone know what transmission I could use (if there even is one) to convert it to rear wheel drive?

ucw458
The stock trans bolts to a 6G72. But a stock worn trans is a bit weak once you go north of 400hp. If you plan on 300+hp then don't do any clutch dumps. If you have input shaft play then I would suggest getting the trans rebuilt. That's it's best chance to hold up. I've seen shops rebuild our manual trans for less than $500. Not a bad investment.
EVOMINUS
are you sure about that?????If the trans already mates to the 6g72 then why turbo addict went to all that trouble with bill to built an adaptor for using an auto on his swap???Bill already has adapters for the wide block hence km132 bolt pattern..they could have used a t56 or a th350-400 for that swap..Then ....i might be wrong
ucw458
My bad. After a few years you remember some things differently. I looked at it again and it had a 1/2" adapter plate between the two. http://6g72rwd.forumcircle.com/viewtopic.php?t=3 http://6g72rwd.forumcircle.com/forumdata/data81/6g72rwd/images/banners/gfjuz1..JPG http://www.vermontel.net/~dcma/V6conv/V67130101.JPG
