LA county outlawed ALL fireworks. Between the idiots blowing their fingers off and the idiots setting the hills on fire CA restricted fireworks to what they call "safe and sane". Starion86ESI Posted January 23, 2014 Report Share Posted January 23, 2014 so some have been wondering what we were going to do about the pigeon forge meet for this July so I went back to the vacation lodge where we have had the meet in the past and talked to the front desk manager Kathy who has been there for over 30 years. She told me that they would love to have us back and she would give us a good rate and there are some other additions. so I will report you decide. 1. the rooms on the bottom floor (one queen bed) 75.00 per night. 2. the rooms on the 2nd and 3rd floor with a balcony (two queen beds) 85.00 per night. 3.doesn't matter what day you check in or check out you pay the same price (for those who come early or stay after the meet) 4. need to pay for the first night to hold a room. 5. they now have breakfast (biscuits and gravy, eggs, cereal, bagels, juice and coffee) 6. they have a file set up for starquest so you have to tell them to get that rate and the rooms will book fast because of the holiday. 7. the phone # are 1-800-468-1998 or 865-453-2640 and her name is Kathy. so there you have it and as far as my two cents goes I think it is a good deal. the rate is about the same as the mountain breeze + we have the parking garage to sit in or work on our cars if it rains. I think the big thing is that we as a group need to conduct ourselves in the right way for us to have respect and to show respect to the other guests as well as all of the people who come to look at our cars. if everyone likes this then it can be moved to the meeting planner and get this started and a roll call. thanks john. So vacation lodge is giving us a 5dollar discount per night? If you have AAA you can just use that and get a better rate than what they are offering for our group discount... Sounds a bit weak. 19cturbo Posted January 23, 2014 Report Share Posted January 23, 2014 im not being salty, no one forces you to stay there, if you dont want to dont. not everyone does.. but the place has one of the best layouts for our cars, and thats why we go there. your saying the discount isnt good enough. it is what it is and we paid 78 a night at mountain breeze last year so VL is cheaper. We arent THAT big of a group.. 20 cars isnt huge to a place with hundreds of rooms. now if we were rolling in there with 100 people, the story might be a little different. Its the 4th of july weekend, they are going to book their rooms weather we stay there or down the street. They have a business to run. if you can get cheaper rates by using your AAA then by all means feel free.. if your cousin steve live 4 miles away and you can stay there, feel free... its all up to you. Ive attended every meet since 08 there and we always have a good time, the vacation lodge is not the number one motel in pigeon forge, but there are far worse, trust me. As far as a discount it's a joke. $5 is better than $0. It IS a holiday weekend after all... most places wouldn't give a discount at all, or would jack up their prices. The rooms will sell out for the weekend so we can take a small discount, or they can fill the rooms at full price. That parking garage was awesome to have. When the wife's car broke coming into town in 06, it saved us bigtime. If we'd been out in direct sunlight there'd be way fewer than 10 people working on it for 2 days straight, and her car would probably still be stuck in TN LOL There are definitely nicer places to stay, but I know for us, we were on a tight budget and the only way we could afford to even go was to have the cheapest room possible, and there were many others like us. It doesn't matter to me, as I won't be going, but the meet will be way more fun if everyone stays in the same place. That doesn't mean anybody HAS to stay there. JAinsworth Posted January 24, 2014 Report Share Posted January 24, 2014 I talked to the owner of the Vacation Lodge today. I have decided that is where I am staying. He assured me 1/2 of the garage, complete breakfast bar with fresh eggs and biscuits among other breakfast foods. Mtn. Breeze has donuts and coffee only. The Lodge has also refurbished the rooms with new beds, linens, etc. and use of the pool all night as long as we didn't get too loud at it. There are also more eating places near the Lodge than Mtn. Breeze. I am going to be in room 209. If you are a pool person, please let Kathy/Cathy (sp?) know and they will give you a room near the pool if you desire.
