Good luck in your search.  Can you explain the difference in struts between a 1989 and any other year?  I was not aware they were different.
Thanks,

I thought 88 and 89 both had the different plug (on the input end, lower side)?   I cannot remember if it was larger or smaller.   I popped out the leads on mine and swapped the plug.

There's a place, I believe in Canada, that'll rebuild your old ones. Do a search on it here on SQC. Seems it was a couple hundred bucks.

I got mine done by Strutwise.  Fairly quick turnaround despite border crossing.  Apparently I got a "deal" for $170 or $180 IIRC because of outdated pricing that they gave me, but said afterward that they'll charge more because our are a PITA to do, given the internal contacts for 3rd brake light and rear defroster.

Crazy nice though.  It pops up on its own most times upon pulling the hatch release like the vid, but mine goes up at a nice little pace.  Far too many years of propping it up with one arm.
