Kreal
I think I just sold one of these to another member, but inscase I am thinking of the wrong part, is this the metal thing where the strut connects, the wheel cylinder is, and where it connects behind wheel? Got a pic? What side do you need? I'm sure I have a good one. xkreal@aol.com
G54Bstore
yea Kreal your thinking of the right part .basicly the whole tire snapped off with the rotoe and brakes attached .il get a pic up in the next few days .its the drivers side . Kellydahman
Perhaps I missed it but which side do you need? I sold the passnager side I believe to a member and have the other side available. This would fit into a www.usps.com flate rate box and only cost $10 to ship it. I think
Chad
the spindles/flanges and guts of the hub assembly are reversable, it's only the hubs itself that is side specific, if you can get Kelly to dissasembly the hub, he'll have you covered. Richie_Rich
Will the SHP spindle fit?I didn't know they could be disassembled. If so, I have one you can have for $10 + shipping. that is if Kelly's is the wrong side
Chad
yes, they are the same.

Richie_Rich
I'm still not seeing how the spindle comes apart. Here are a few pics of an SHP strut. They happen to be fully assembled with caliper and backing plate, etc. How do you separate the spindle portion from the strut tube?It looks like it is welded on the underside. http://img390.imageshack.us/img390/2504/dscf0013ph8.th.jpghttp://img205.imageshack.us/img205/1757/dscf0014gg0.th.jpghttp://img229.imageshack.us/img229/747/dscf0015br0.th.jpg I think there is something wrong with these struts as one of the adjuster wheels does not turn. I'm probably not going to be getting my parts car for a few weeks. That car does have regular struts on it.
Chad
I was talking rear spindles before, the fronts are the same all years that have 5 lugs. On the fronts Just pop the cap of fthe center of the spindle, remove the retainer cap, pull the cotter pin and remove the castle nut. Then it pulls right off. The spindle stub is an intergal part of the strut body so to replace a front spindle, you need a whole new strut body.
Richie_Rich
gotcha.I guess I automatically think front when someone says spindle and rear if they say hub. Never really thought about it. Do you need the front or rear?
G54Bstore
its the rear drivers side ....and an 88 sorry guys if i wasnt specific enuff but i do appreciate the help here .

DSMracespeed
OK,that makes more sense. The factory manual calls it the axle shaft.I have one from an '87(should be the same) for $20.00 shipped. Jerry L.
G54Bstore
this one has 6 bolt holes i dont think they are the same
Chad
88/89 are incompatable with 87 and older. the 88/89's are 6 bolt at the CV flange. I've heard the term "axle shaft" as well, but that term often gets mixed up with the CV shafts. I've also called it an "axle stub".
IntercooledFlatty
I think I'm the only one that took it wrong. Sorry I couldn't help. :cry:i thought front too, spindle=front , at least that's what i've always thought , G54B i might have one for ya
