 i'm an idiot. maybe i turned off my brain for a second there. i'm looking to upgrade my stock 88 starion (as of saturday i hope) i was told a header is an excellent upgrade but have yet to actually see one. (relatively new to the starquest world) any advice would be greatly appreciated. will a t3/t4 work with stock throttle body? i keep hearing a s16g is about as big as you want to go.

Well unless it's alreayd totaly custome you have a g54b a 4g64 would be a eclips talon etc DOHC motor not what we have in a conquest / starion.

A header is a great upgrade, and will give you other options other then a mitus turbo however with TB injection your going to be kinda maxed out on what you can use.

Well , since very few have contacted me I just pulled all the post and will only make the one for my car and a few others . Thanks to those that have contacted me and good luck to all others .

Frank

You may get him to make one, just don't get excited about the idea untill you get ahld of him and confirm.

SQC is a tough group to sell to, most members are cheap (not that that is a bad thing  ) broke, and expect top quality for a bargain price.

I don't blame him to backing out of the GP he was going to setup, he has more profitable customers to cater to at his shop I'm sure.

There have been several other vendors (Xcir, SFP, a guy who sold them on Ebay, Shaun Silva), all have given up on SQ's due to low volume and low proift.

There are only 3 choices currently that I know are currently selling, and 2 of them are cast manifolds similar to the stock one, just slightly improved with a different flange combo.

You can also get a local fabricator to make one exactly how you want it. I am having one made for my car right now. And a buddy of mine had one made for his car also last year and the header is sweet.

how much research goes into that. How much testing? I wont buy a header if the design has not been tested on a working vehicle for less than two years. I got mine with a t4 flange.

I will be running an sc63 p trim.

A good fabricator will know what he or she is doing. Questtsi made 569 on a log style manifold and that isn't much more than a beefed up stocker manifold. You don't need to get all crazy in the design for power. My buddy had one made and since has made over 400hp and he is the only one with it.

Its cool man. I like the fact mine is one of a kind too. I am the only one with that one in particular.

I wonder what his egt's were like during that rin

Please learn english before instructing n00bs on how to mod their stock conquest.

chris1 - a header is not the first thing you should do. A search is, though.

i appreciate your input. i am very new to the starquest world, and very interested in learning as much as poss. there seem to be many conflicting viewpoints as to the most effective early-stage upgrades, and i'm having trouble sorting through them. the reason i am looking for a header, is that i spoke w/what seemed like a very knowledgeable person from this club, who's name escapes me, who told me this was a very effective and underused upgrade. i'm afraid to turn this into a q&a because i know this is an items wanted forum, but if there is a reason i should not pursue this upgrade at this time, i am more than open to advice.

ill agree with that.. but the entire torque curve can be manipulated by the header itself, all depends what you are looking for. ID, length, collector desig all have a play in making your car perform as you have intended.

i suggest calling the guys you want to have a header made by, the two members mentioned here are decent fellows..it all comes down to what exactly you want and who you get the best feeling about.
