  1. I'm going to trade in this car when I buy a new one unless there is any interest here. I'm willing to let it go for $1000. Let me know asap as I'm trying to buy a new car this weekend.
  2. I appreciate the advice. Here are a few pictures. Let me know if you want pictures of anything specific and I'll be happy to take and post them. http://photobucket.com/88starion
  3. I'm selling the car even though I'm really sad to do it. It's my daily driver right now and I need something a little more reliable. The car runs really well and starts when you turn the key but has a few problems that make the impractical for me right now. I've done a good amount of work to the car but it needs a lot of body work and some has a few mechanical problems. It has around 136,000 miles (I say about b/c the speedo cable has been broken for two months). What I've done: Top End Performance Rear Struts and Front Struts (http://www.racetep.com/dod_mitstrut.html) Top End Performance Lowering Springs Top End Performance Front Sway Bar Top End Performance Custom Made Rear Differential Mounts Top End Performance Installed Rear Axels Metal Master Brake Pads (Front and Rear) Top End Performance Performance Street Clutch (less than 500 miles wear) Dunlop Tires (less than 1,000 miles wear) Top End Performance Mandrel Bent Down Pipe (w/ new 02 sensor) Tope End Performance Mandrel Bent B Pipe with High Flow Catalytic Converter HKS Cat Back Exhaust Top End Performance Over the Valve Cover Hard Pipe with Turbo XS BOV Turbo XS Manual Boost Controller New Starter Motor Rebuilt Power Steering Gearbox Replaced Injector Clips Autometer Boost Gauge Whats Wrong Right Now: Reverse Lights Don't Turn on in Reverse (appears to be a wiring problem - I've replaced the switch) Broken Speedo Cable (I have a replacement but it needs to be installed) Front Transmission Seal Leak Cracked Passenger Side Tail Light (I have a replacement but it needs to be installed) Damaged and cracked front air dam Damage to passenger side front quarter panel I was hoping to get $4,000 for the car. Let me know if you're interested and I'll take pictures. Please PM me if you have questions or if you're in LA and would like to come look at the car.
  4. Like the topic says. Living in Los Angeles and can pickup if local. Want a working speedo again.
  5. I was rear ended on the highway last week and I need a right tail light for my 1988 Starion as soon as possible. I'm in Los Angeles and can do pickups.
  6. Like the topic says I'm trying to replace the gear oil in my LSD and the local mitsu dealership claims they no longer carry or can get the MOPAR oil recommended in the service manual. Can I use any 75w-90 gear oil and what additives if any should I add? I'm not sure what hypoid gear oil is and if this means I need to seek out some special oil or if all gear oil is hypoid. Thanks for your help guys. -Andrew
  7. If you split them I might be interested in the bov. PM me a quote for just the bov if you want to split them.
  8. pm sent for an intake manifold
  9. I did run the heat cycle and then re-torqued per instructions and I have the white gasket from TEP and the instructions that came with it do not mention the need for extra sealant. But it turns out that Dad and Needpartss were right. The head gasket is fine and the exhaust is clean (not burning oil or coolant). It turns out that the valve cover gasket is bad and oil is getting sprayed onto the exhaust manifold and dripping down the transmission housing onto the b-pipe and burning there. As always thanks for the help guys. A new valve cover gasket is a lot less of a headache than having to re-do the head gasket.
  10. No. Is this a common problem with these heads/blocks?
  11. Guys, About 5 months ago I installed a new head gasket (the multilayer one from Top End Performance) and a set of ARP head studs. I pulled the head cleaned the surfaces installed the gasket and torqued it to the provided specs. I drove it around for a few days, no problems no oil loss or stumbling from a lack of cylinder compression. I then put it in my garage for about 4 months while I was away at school. I come back and I can see oil dripping out from where the head meets the block, its burning oil thats being sprayed onto the exhaust manifold and I'm also burning oil out of the exhaust pipe. Obviously the head gasket is the problem. What do you guys recommend? Can I just re-torque the head studs or should I pull the head and re-clean and tap everything and start again from scratch? Finally I lost the torque specs that came with the TEP gasket if anyone has them handy it would be greatly appreciated if you could post them. Thanks for the help.
  12. Whenever I accelerate hard (for instance when I'm merging onto the highway) the air coming into the cabin smells very strongly of gasoline. When I got under the hood and revved the engine by pulling the throttle cable the engine bay again smelled like gas. When I pulled the pipe over the valve cover to take a look inside the throttle body the inside of the pipe and the cloth pipe that attaches to the intercooler smell very strongly of gasoline. At first I thought it was the secondary fuel injector (considering that the smell only occurs after 2500 rpm) but that is not leaking at all into the engine bay. There is some kind of gunky buildup around the the gasket where the intake manifold meets the throttle body but there isn't any obvious leaking when I rev the engine or let it idle. I'm also feeling less power than usual and I think I'm running lean based on the fact that when I pulled my spark plugs they are very white. Any ideas guys?
  13. pmed about secondary injector.
  14. I'm looking for a power steering gearbox for an '88 Starion. Thanks.
