Lizzord30
Here are a few pics of some stuff I am working on.62mm TB4 injectors equaling about 500cc http://i1355.photobucket.com/albums/q714/Luke_Tainter/IMG_20140129_180640_zpspvqjmvgh.jpg http://i1355.photobucket.com/albums/q714/Luke_Tainter/IMG_20140129_180650_zpsjfenqpeo.jpg http://i1355.photobucket.com/albums/q714/Luke_Tainter/IMG_20140129_180715_zpsanp4xzuh.jpg Edited February 2, 2014 by Lizzord30
Guest
That's creative. What will keep the injectors from popping out?
BC_99
That's creative. What will keep the injectors from popping out? All that JB weld. Im wondering what the fuel rail is going to look like. BC_99
Fuze
That's creative. What will keep the injectors from popping out? Yeah.... just my 2 cents but he'll need to have them secured somehow, they will come right up out of that JB weld while driving and hose the engine bay with gas. Lizzord30
Plan is tap hose barbs into the fuel rail I have and rubber hoses going to the injectors.
speedyquest
What will you do to keep those injectors in the intake? That JB Weld wont keep them in there. Then just like someone else pointed out you will have gas spraying into your hot engine bay... That won't end well.
ucw458
Oh No,,,,, another JB welded intake. The problem is the stock intake not the TBI injection. A magna outflows a TBI intake. You will get more HP per PSI of boost on a true MPI intake. And DON'T use JB weld on anything fuel related. Anyone remember this mess?http://www.starquestclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=118528
Guest
Dude, really? Someone paid $600 for that manifold?
Lizzord30
No I didn't pay anything for this. The injectors will have steel brackets that go over the injector fuel inlet and extend with long bolts to hold to to the intake. JB weld is used to seal the gap the TB bolts to 2 of the stock TB bolts and I will probably drill and tap the other 2 bolts but haven't got that far yet. The intake will be used on a montero where the low rpm power is apriciated. But the intake has the egr area opened up to give about twice the plenum area under the TB, plus a TB that is about 80%larger than stock. The 2 runners are pretty much double the size of the stock TB. So basically should increase flow about 70 to 50% over the stock intake.
87redcat
good concept, bad J&B idea. even if it does just seal
psu_Crash
Get some weld in bungs for the injectors and save yourself the headache/HUGE SAFETY CONCERN!!No one wants to see you end up in a ball of fire my man
BC_99
Get some weld in bungs for the injectors and save yourself the headache/HUGE SAFETY CONCERN!!No one wants to see you end up in a ball of fire my man ^^^Agreed^^^ Get the bungs and send them and that manifold to me and I will weld them in for you if you don't know someone else that can do it. 89PalermoSHP
The lesson here: Any design or modification that requires the use of ANY amount of JB needs to go back to the drawing board. Using it for mock-up is one thing, using it for a finished product is hack.
Lizzord30
^^^Agreed^^^ Get the bungs and send them and that manifold to me and I will weld them in for you if you don't know someone else that can do it. BC_99 This is more a proof of concept ten a finished product, If this works well I definetly may take you up on that offer! If it doesnt work well Ill just put a stock setup on it, Its just a montero dont really need all that much power even a stock turbo 2.6 makes like 30hp and 60tq more then the stock 3.0 v6 it had in it. I actualy have a MPI magna intake I am not using, but I want to see how this idea works out. My idea is 4 inj about = to primary conquest tbi injector, wired in a way to give about the same resistance to the stock ecu, and could be alot of ways to try like use a 550cc and the 4 injectors in the intake for the secondary. My idea tho is to improve the low end response and power without hurting (actualy helping) the top end. If these 4 injectors dont match the one primary injector I can add a smaller sized injector i the Primary stock injector Location, or If the 4 in the runners works well for the primary I could run 2 550cc in the stock location and use them both for the secondary (idea is to reduce fuel drops). If this works great I will mod another intake like this but with Welding an no JB weld and send it off to have it done right. But I belive jb weld is acquitted to see if the idea will work.(I Will have fire extinguisher in the vehicle!).
