  1. Thanks everyone! I appreciate the feedback. I used a MIG welder, plasma torch to cut the silverware, and a sand-blaster to clean up the input shaft. There are no intentions of selling it. I have it sitting with some of my other art work here in the house. For those of you motivated enough, maybe try something like this on your own. Turn you bad parts into art, and the better half will have a little bit less to complain about so far as our cars are concerned. A little And hey, in this economy, it can't hurt to save a buck or two when it's time to hand out gifts.
  2. Well I found a use for a bad input shaft replaced in a rebuild of a 88-89 transmission. It's been sitting in my shed for a couple years now I guess, so I took it, and some old silverware, and bearings downs to the sculpture studio on campus. It's my first real welding experience, but I thought you all may enjoy... http://img240.imageshack.us/img240/5897/img4371oh4.jpg http://img511.imageshack.us/img511/1711/img4377hb2.jpg

She passed away last week after 9.5 years of wonderful companionship. I'd love to say she never hurt a fly, but she actually loved snatching flies out of the air as a little snack http://img123.imageshack.us/img123/7858/1000331pr0.jpg
  6. It's difficult to express how profoundly sad I am to hear that this has happened to you, and your family. Anyone's for that matter. It's disheartening to think that someone could value life so little. My deepest sympathies are with all of you.
  7. Thank you Dad, and Bill. I appreciate it. I have to be strong for the family, so this is my outlet, and as usual, you guys/gals are here for me. I can't thank you enough. BTW, the kids are dealing with it pretty well, but it's hit mom a lot harder. We raised her from a pup, and it feels like loosing a child to be honest.
  8. Thank you gentlemen. I appreciate it. What makes it really hard for us, among other things, is that we took her to the vet expecting to maybe have her on some medication or something. We never thought for a second we wouldn't be bringing her home. At the same time, I calculated that I took her on over 5000 walks in her life, not including the walks she was taken on with Mom, and the kids....
  9. Our family dog, that we got when our nine year old daughter was born, died very unexpectedly from an aggressive liver cancer yesterday. She was a Rott, and was one of the sweetest dogs you'd have ever meet. Some of you here on the boards that have meet her, I'm sure would agree. I miss her a lot. The worst part of life, but a least she's not suffering. Thanks for hearing me out
  10. :iagree: That's why I'm not a Republican. Not a Democrat. Not an Independent. that's why I'm, "not affiliated with any political party". I'm a gun-carrying, Military Vet, born an raised in the south. I'm also an artist that believes in freedom of choice, universal health care, and peace. No one party is right on everything, and the growing divide that the two party system is creating has only served to weaken our nation while fattening the pockets of the already rich. The middle class is nearly gone, and people are loosing everything they've worked for on a daily basis due to a crap economy, Housing market, and out of control health care cost. What we need is someone that really cares about the country they serve. Make it like the Pope. Have all elected politicians take a vow of poverty. Set them up in a dorm in Washington. Make them true public servants. I know, unrealistic, but that's what's sad about it, we can't seem to imagine our political system any different than it is, and it's becoming more evident that the direction we're headed isn't working.
  11. Not even close to made up until last night. Might want to work on your observational skills there friend To those that think she's more qualified than Obama, you might want to do some serious fact checking. She was mayor of city of 7025 people, Wasillia Alaska. 7025 people? Carl Rove said himself, while trying to show why Virginia Governor Tim Kaine wasn't a qualified pick for Obama's VP, that Kaine had only been governor for three years, and was only Mayor of a city of 200,000 (Richmond Virginia). "not a big town", in Roves own words. He then went to say that a choice of someone like Kaine would be political, and not based on merit, due to his experience, or lack of it. Well, let's see...how long has Palin been governor? 1 year, and in a state with a little over 600,000 people? And again, how large of a city did she manage? 7025? Yeah, I guess if you buy into the idea that because she's is governor of a state with an international boarder, she has foreign policy experience. On that logic, Jesse "the Body" Ventura would have mounds of foreign policy experience after governing a state on the boarded with Canada. Back to Palin though. How many times has she left the country? Twice. To Germany, and Kuwait. Wow. What really bothered me about her though, all came to light for me durning her speech last night. When she said that as a mayor of that HUGE 7025 person city, she actually had responsibilities, where as "Community Organizers" don't. I saw her for what she's worth, with that comment that she found so humorous. Grass roots, or community organizers are what gave this nation it's freedom from the Revolutionary War to the Civil Rights Movement, or even better in my mind "Woman Suffrage". How ignorant, and malicious she must be to make such a statement. I, personally, am tired of all the smack talk in politics. Speeches like Palin's that do nothing but try to tear people down, and in the process they tear down this great nation.
  12. I personally don't care who she is. McCain would be the president if elected, and he lost my vote when he started shoving his head up GWB's rear. Maverick? Change? Only after getting caught up in the "Keating 5" scandal. On another note, I listened to her speech at the convention, and it further convinced me that she needs to stay in Alaska. Nothing but a bunch of attacks, and didn't prove in anyway she has the qualifications for the office of vice-president, unless being an obnoxious prick is a qualification. Wait, being Cheney is VP now I guess that might be in the job description.
  13. any shutter speed 1/60th of a second or longer usually requires a tripod. Another good investment with that tripod would be a remote, but if thats not an options, set the timer on the camera so pushing the shutter release doesn't cause the same "camera shake" you're experiencing.
