Hope I Don't Jinx It....

Hey all, I have been lurking for a bit. Been a little hesitant about introducing myself in case that jinxes me buying the SQ that I currently have lined up. I have been on several forums since '98 or so....I find them pretty useful for whatever car I am looking to buy or currently own.

I am looking at buying the 86 Starion from one of the other newbs on here (1stworks). I found the car for him last year off of bringatrailer.com. He has now given me a chance to buy it, so I am taking him up on the offer. I am hoping to take possession of the car the first weekend of June. I am pretty stoked!

Anyways.....good to meet everyone!

...and because every thread is worthless without pics.....

Here is my other passion... Porsche 914's. I have owned 13 (I think) since 1993. This is the one that I currently own that is torn apart in my garage right now....

Nice Porsche. Why did you have so many? Why is this one a keeper?

Weird story as to why this one is a keeper...

Bought this one in 2007. Nothing special about it, just an average driver. I had to replace the gauge lights. Sitting in the garage and pull out the speedo...there, in 40 year old paint pen is my wife's name written on the speedo.

Checked with everyone on the 914 boards...nope, no one has ever seen anything written on a gauge besides random calibration numbers. However, women at the Porsche factory often assembled the gauge clusters (presumably). Looks like one of them was named Valerie and wrote her name....and my wife's on this gauge. It creeped me out so much that I don't think I will ever be able to sell it... lol

Every "toy" car for me that I have bought has always been a project. I know they are all that way to a certain degree. I am hoping that this Starion will need minimal attention, seems I only want to keep it as original as possible.

Meanwhile, I will wait for my kids to grow up to be able to throw a ton of $ into the 914 build.

Very cool you found "Val". Nice looking 86 too. Good luck with both projects.

Oh and Welcome aboard

Not too bad. Worked on tidying things up a little today. Overall, I am pretty impressed with its originality. The only non-stock items that I have found are the coil, wires and window tint. Can't complain there!
