10 Year Reunion

So about 10 years ago I owned a white 89 shp, that was my first turbocharged car and I absolutely fell in love with it. I started doing basic mods to it, like hard pipes, exhaust, afc etc. During the time that I had the car I was getting ready to go off to college and my parents didn't want me to take the conquest, because they thought it wasn't "reliable" enough, so I ended up taking a Mazda Protege 5 with me to college. While I was in college my dad decided to buy and 88 Conquest. This was a dark period in my life because, instead of buying his own upgrades he decided to take everything off of my car and put it onto his. So basically he left mine to rot while I was living 4 hours away. When I originally bought my quest it had about 65,000 miles on it and the owner told me the back seats had never been sat in, the car was basically in mint condition. So my father even took my back seats out and put them in his, because he had a tiny tear in his. So long story short I told him not to sell the car until I got out of college, because I was going to fix it up and having it running again. A week before I graduated the car was sold, never to be seen again.

Fast forward 10 years later, I was at my second job one night (Advance Auto Parts), I looked up and saw a white conquest pulling into the parking. I was like "wow that looks that looks familiar, it even has the same Apex'i sticker on the front bumper." So the owner came in and I started talking to him, asking him questions about the car. It turned out that him and his dad had bought the car local about 10 years ago. I was like "wow I think that's my old car!" So he let me take a look at it, and it still had the original dealer sticker on the rear hatch, as mine did. I couldn't believe my eyes, I was actually looking at my conquest! So he said he would talk to his dad about selling it back to me. Another long story short, last week I was able to purchase my old car back. As soon as I sat in it, I fell in love again!

The only pictures I have of it when I first had it, is when Dad was selling it. So, the pictures below were taken about 10 years ago.

Awesome tale! Actually, if all goes as planned, I'll be selling an 89 Fiji back to its owner next week. She owned in PA, moved to NC, sold in NC, I bought from another Quester and returned to PA, she's picking back up to take to NC....weird, I still have all of her paperwork and her name is on the title still.

Cool how this stuff works out!

Congrats Dude!

Glad you have your baby back. Similar story happened to me. I rebuilt an old honda '73 450CL before I left for the Marines. while away my parents sold it to a kid I went to high school with. I was not a happy camper. Never saw it again.

Very cool you have yours back. Funny what parents do to their kids...

Hopefully the kid took care of it. Parents just don't understand...
