Thought it would be a good idea to introduce myself as I'll probably be spending inordinate amounts of time on this forum. Been lurking for a few weeks and reading up a lot, seems like a very cool place and lots of knowledgeable members here!

I'm originally from the Miata world, and my labor of love is a 1999 10th Anniversary edition that I've been building up since 2009.

I recently finished turbocharging it and rebuilding pretty much the entire driveline and suspension. Switched everything over to a Megasquirt ECU and get it running quite nicely with it. I also adapted a Lotus Elise Difflow diffuser to it and am currently working on a flat underbody. On the current tune, the car makes about 240hp/210tq @ 12psi.

Anyways, a friend of mine recently decided to hand the reigns over to me on his 1987 Conquest project car. It needs quite a bit o' work and refreshing to get to useable condition, but I'm up to the task. I've already got a set of SHP wheels en route to me at the moment. I'll be grabbing a plethora of maintenance parts here in a few weeks to get some of the major systems in working order, and then let the craziness ensue from there. I don't really have any definite plans for the car right now, but getting it in running order is priority numero uno.

Welcome fellow texan! That's a beautiful miata you have, those little bp motors can be monsters! Burton on here is not too far from ya over in seguin.

Thanks! Yeah my build isn't too wild as the miata is my daily driver when its not broken ^_^ There are some guys that make some crazy numbers with some pretty awesome turbo systems!

Good to hear that there's some local starquest owners, I've only seen maybe 2 here in San Antonio, and that was quite a while ago. Looking forward to hopefully meeting some new people in this community :)

Welcome to the site!!

Was never really a fan of Miatas myself, but I've messed with a BP turbo engine before... they get down!! What size turbo you using?? Lotus diffuser looks pretty bad ace as well. What's the retail on one of those??

Nice little Miata. Looking forward to seeing what comes of the StarQuest. Welcome to the addiction!

Thanks! I don't think I've really even figured out what I'm going to do with the Conquest, but i'll definitely be giving it the same kind of attention to detail as I've given the Miata!

I'm currently running an ebay T3 50 trim turbo. Originally had the boost set at 7psi via the external wastegate, and it seemed pretty lacking. Slapped a manual boost controller to 12psi and it really woke it up!

Yeah I absolutely love the diffuser. Took a lot of hard work to adapt it to the Miata, but it really has become a cool functional part as well as a talking piece at meets and whatnot. I got the diffuser used from the owner of Difflow, but it was literally in mint condition. He told me it was originally on an Exige S that was rarely driven. They originally retail for $550 + shipping, but I paid way less than that :D

Haha!! I lol @ the peeps that don't get the F&F quotes. You should see some of the people on the Miata forums; its like they've never ventured out of their mother's basement. End up getting butt hurt about quotes like that and it turns into a 10 page battle of half-wit morons trying to outsmart each other.

welcome, i just rejoined the community myself in the last couple of months, I'm working on a downed quest that i just pulled the motor out of (for the 2nd time) should be up in another couple of weeks.

I'm in town, there are alot of good peeps around here, Burton is a really good local source for parts and things, also I "donated" gave my first quest to a buddy of mine so that i can build a a straight '88 from the ground up.

we're both on the northwest part of town, but i've got about 10years (off & on) experience with these cars, not much advanced stuff, but the basics of OEM setups so pm if you ever need some help on the weekend or something

If you are close to some of those that are in the RX-7 crowd,

you should check the compatability of some of their components.

Driving a Starion after driving a Miata will be interesting , but don't let it discourage you.

Happy Thanksgivings.

I actually have FC RX-7 tie rod ends on my car right now!

I've driven my friend's 89 Starion and thought it was pretty awesome :D Reminds me a lot of my old Z32 300ZX.

Welcome!

I'm over on the east side, almost to Seguin. I'm only a couple miles away from the drag strip.

If you ever need any parts or body work, let me know. I got a few parts cars here and have been messing with these cars since 03 (although, my dad owned a couple of Starions new in the late 80's, so I got my first introduction to them way back then). There's some good people around the SA area, and a couple of not-so-good ones, but there's deffinately a pretty big SQ following developing around here. I'm hoping to have a little mini-meet/cookout sometime in 2013.

Awesome! I've done quite a few autocrosses out at SAR in the miata. I'll definitely be contacting you in the future, and it would be very cool to have a cookout sometime! Definitely down for that!

Yeah, not to toot my own horn or anything, but I make a pretty good chili-cheese dip. It's pretty much like the typical queso you'd find in TX, but I also add chili, ground beef, and some other extra spices.

I always make it for cookouts or other special occasions, so I'm sure I'll make a bunch of it when I have a meet.

Sounds good to me, the more the merrier. There may be some local Kia guys we know who would come too, as well as some of my hot rod buddies.

Aside from one San Antonio SQer, who knows who he is, anyone would be welcome. As long as they love cars, and don't start crap

Dang that vid of the miata sounds pretty quick! I was in SA for years rolling in my 944 untill I got my quest in Boerne then started on her. I moved to Corpus but my family is still in the Hill Country. Now that the rebuild is done and working out the small kinks I am keeping my eye out for a meet. My wife is graduating next week so my sched will be opening up in the future for fun stuff, hope to meet ya sir and also try Burton's dip too lol. I'll bring some pepper party favors from my garden.

The car would be a whole lot faster if the clutch hadn't started slipping recently LOL

Seems like there are a lot of cool SQ peeps in Texas, looks like this meet/cookout thing is going to be pretty awesome!
