mbruneaux
The paint on my '89 is a horribly bad color change from red to black. The red is coming out everywhere and It needs to be redone correctly eventually, planning on fall 2015, but was hoping scuffing and shooting a flat black would at least make it look better from a distance. I've never painted before and this would be good practice for the real shoot next year. Does the flat black hide well? Any pics would be appreciated. Fuze
I painted my red car matte black, it covers everything with no primer required for the John Deere Blitz black I used. This is the paint you want to use for a matte black single stage job, it doesn't turn chalky and looks like satin. Comes in gallons and spray cans, same paint, but with the gallons you want to get the hardener also to make it even more durable. Fuze
Definitely a possibility, do you have any pics of your car? After a year and a half, car is not garged. Fuze
These are both satin black I think. Not matte black. Sure. The BB paint lasts a long time, rattle can flat will turn chalky after a while. Since you can get both in cans, might as well use the good stuff if you're not using a spray gun. Xtreme Industries
satin black looks better than flat, flat looks cheap. how is the maintenance of this?
Fuze
You just wash it. No wax, no work to make it shine. Mine sits outside, been a couple years and it still looks pretty much the same, just a little dirtier. I wash it like three times a year so I guess that's pretty low maintenance/laziness, a good combination.

Fuze
About how many rattle cans did it take to paint the whole car? I bought the gallon and had it painted after some rust repair. It was sprayed with a gun, and I used the hardener. The same paint comes in the cans without the hardener in it. I painted the jams and parts of the engine bay, wherever red was showing, with the cans and it matched perfectly. Not sure how many cans it would take but the gallon was like $25, cans are like $5 each.
