Quick stop at the Dyno.

Recommended Posts

On my way back from downtown Orlando, I pulled in to a local dyno shop and made two quick pulls.

393whp/366 ft/lb torque @18-19 psi

Let me add that the ambient temp was around 90*, and the intercooler was heat soaked. The owner of the shop said to add 4% to whatever max power made. The humidity and temps weren't factored in. Technically, that would put me around 407whp

SWEET! That's a dandy dyno curve, good job.

Thanks

Is it normal to flame out the tailpipe on decel? What causes this?

that was the rev limiter not decel backfire

What turbo you using?

Not sure why no one commented on this yet. But flames out the tailpipe are normally caused buy unburnt fuel going through the exhaust system igniting. Not sure why it only happens on decel/shifting.

Can we just have a break down of your entire modlist DieHard.

Yes, very good! I bet it's a fun car! Now add 50 hp and it'll really motor!

Corn juice should do the trick...only problem is the nearest station is 30mins away.

Turbo is a journal bearing, T4, P trim 60-1 .58 hotside

I will post the list of modds soon...

Again the flame out the tail pipe was a result of the revlimiter. Its set to 6500 rpms but the dyno operator revved it to 68XX on that run. When it hits the limiter, timing gets pulled and it goes rich.

VERY NICE! Those are great numbers with that turbo. I have a 57 trim T4 in a P-trim bullseye performance T3 .55 hotside and my turbo REALLY comes alive beyond 15 psi. Do you know if the compressor housing is a T04E or T04S model? I'm looking for parts to upgrade my turbo to a 60-1 but I can't find a 60-1 T04E compressor housing.

here's a link to the graph, you can zoom in but the numbers are still a bit fuzzy.

The HP line falls just a little bit due to the fuel mixture richening up to 10.5 afrs after 61xx rmps. With a little fine tuning, I think power should hold steadily to 6500 rpms.

The torque curve needing to be a bit more flat is probably a consequence of my doodling with the ignition timing. At mid range rpms, I advanced it 5-10 degrees because the car had wheel spin above 60mph on cooler winter days. Also, I've broken a few drive train mounts, axle and a clutch. The right side axle broke at mid-range rpms while loading up on torque.

btw, these are 4 bolts 87 axles

Send your turbo to micturbo in florida. They have your to4s compressor cover with antisurge. They have the 60-1 compressor wheel in billet gtx style. It will blow away the old 60-1 unit.
