Sully
I just read threw half that thread and only 1 person slightly mentions the flywheel. Its pretty evident in this pic. Looks like the flywheel was damaged when it hit the ground or hood. Also the center bolt section of the flywheel is still on the car. Hopefully DCR isn't as dumb as they make them out to be. http://s90214777.onlinehome.us/clutchexploded9.jpg Edited March 21, 2008 by Sully
Maxzillian
That looks like the pressure plate (the physical plate, not the clutch assembly) to me. In the pictures you can see that the flywheel is still in the car.
slowquest
the neons have a weird setup on the clutch, it uses a flexplate, just like an automatic, then the clutch assy bolts to it, much like a torque converter would. the pieces shown in sully's pic are the "flywheel" as we would think of it, just doesn't have the ring gear on it. Komeuppance
Psh... those guys are immediately blaming DCR, and not installation failure... claiming that it's purely DCR's fault. FAIL. -Robert EDIT: Just read more of the thread. Yep, installation failure... failed to install an upgraded flywheel. Elkidmino
I didn't see anything about torque specs mentioned. That and that clutch wasn't near being broken in.
slowquest
just like some DSM's Yea, the DSM's that have the 420A, also use that setup.
Indiana
He had an upgraded puck disc disc but you can get a traditional flyweel. Brandons SRT-4 Neon has an aluminum flywheel and kevlar clutch and traditional pressure plate like you are used to seeing.
Outlander
I had a clutch disc burst on my 88 RX7. No damage to anything but it deffinatly gets you thinking about all that rotating assembly by you legs.
