I've thought about starting a Restoration thread like this for quite a while but progress on my car has been excruciatingly slow so i never have but the more i think about it the more i would like to have a spot where i can see my progress and share it with my fellow StarQuest enthusiast however slow it may be.

History-

As far as i can tell i am the third owner no carfax history but changes of title. The car had slightly over 60k on her when i got it, they were some Very hard miles with very little care. The owner before me had the car while she was going through collage and traded it to a local mechanic (Whom i work for now) for some work on an Explorer. The Starion had a heater core leaking and several other coolant leaks which i fixed while i payed it off ($700 bucks), i originally bought the car just to learn to drive a stick. Later i found out the car had been nearly totaled in an accident and had originally been a very dark metallic purple and sliver two tone which you can see in the wheel wells and trunk, body shop claimed they couldn't match the original paint and it was painted black.

The day i brought her home-

The next morning, i think-

Modded airbox with a K&N-

The first major setback a deer at 5am-

Burton helped me out after this and made up a custom hood with an EVO style scoop, unfortunately it decided to peel it's self off about 6 months after i got it to much temp change for it i think.

After the first time i rattle canned-

Door panel repair before-

And after, i still haven't got speakers in yet but it's on the to do list-

The rear seats were totally wasted and more or less beyond repair so i decided to try my hand at a cheap rear seat delete-

I've got some carpet to go over the vinyl now so it will look better, also on the to do list.

New Wheels Yay!-

Car sits slightly lower now since those pic's were taken after the car had been jacked up and had not settled again yet.

Thanks guys, and i'm hoping this thread will get me motivated to get what i can done to my car like carpeting the rear seat delete... the carpet is sitting in the car and has been for a few months.

As for more info on the rear seat delete here is a 'raw' pic of it before it was covered and the speaker holes cut-

It's made out of very thin plywood (A door skin from an old interior door i had in the back shed) and a 2x6 i had left over from rebuilding my front porch. I mocked everything up with cardboard first then copied onto the wood pieces. I wish the ply wood i used would have been wider it wasn't wide enough to cut one piece so i have the slight seem in the middle which hopefully the carpet will hide.

Finally got around to putting in the 'new' headlight switches i got from Autobodygod. '88-'89 switches = tedious job splicing all the wires to make my '83 harness plugs work but they look nice, also i went ahead and took out the gauge cluster and took it apart to clean inside and out.

Lights show through brighter with everything clean.

Got carpet on the rear seat delete last night definitely like it better carpeted.

I need to secure the back part down just not sure how i'm going to do that. Might put an amp forwards of and in between the speakers, not sure yet I'll figure out whatever the best spot is.

You can just see the bottom back of the sub box (2x 10 inch Kicker subs) it needs anchored down at some point after i get them hooked up and the amp wired in.

Took the sub's and amp out of my pick-up so they were sort of freebies for this project.

Excuse the mess i need to vacuum and try to shampoo the carpet again when it's warmer and i have time.

Found a decent 1Gen Eclipse steering wheel at the pick-and-pull yesterday cleaned it up last night and put it in today, it looks nicer than the stocker and feels much better to hang onto.

What did you use above the roll up console for the stereo pocket?

It's a piece i cut out of a bed liner one of those factory hard plastic ones. My Nissan hardbody had one in it and it was starting to rust the bed underneath it so i took it out. I've made all sorts of panels for stuff, like that face piece behind the cd player, out of it.

Been working 6 days a week and trying to keep up around the house so unfortunatly i haven't done anything to my '83 lately. I do have a set of used Eibach springs sitting in the passanger seat i'de like to put on soon though. Come to think of it i got those springs from you JohnnyWadd, thanks again.

I'm getting tried of the black paint to i'm seriously thinking about painting over it with something close to british racing green, rattle can of course.
