  1. Good so far. The tires have been replaced and I'm looking into buying a set of widebody rims for her which also means a 5 lug conversion. the stance is just wrong with the flatty like a linebacker wearing ballerina slippers. She will have to go through a Cal smog in Nov so i'm going to have to replace the first catalytic converter because I can hear that it is out. once the car is smoged though i'm looking forward to doing some cheap and simple bolt on mods that can be removed before the next smog. here in california we now have smog check points I kid you not. but the chances of running into one are slim and there are groups notifying people. I'm also still looking for an engine to rebuild just to have one on hand when her miles out run her bearings.
  2. I know it was an " In your face" header just wanted to attract some attention. I’ve seen some newbie’s with less than a few replies to theirs. I’m by no means rich or rude and it will take me a while to spend 20 grand on mine. She is in good running order and I do have two years of auto engine and pretty much being a mechanic to all my friends and family. So far the biggest problem she’s given me is the slave cylinder. I have no intention of selling her. I went into it not really knowing what to expect but to be honest from talking to other owners on other sites I feel a bit let down I’ve owned mustangs and the past and sold them because of the enthusiasts put me off with their “frat boy-fandom” of the car. I get a lot of that form wide body owners and. Luckily I’ve found an owner of a widebody not to far from me and to be honest his knowledge has helped me more times than I’d like to admit.
  3. The voice is female not male like a lot of people assume because of some 80’s Chryslers having a similar function. I’ve heard the Chrysler version and it’s a lot more robotic and you kind of feel like your Dad is in the car bossing you around. After a while her voice just gets lost to you. I took her to an oil shop and all the kids there got a kick out of it. Because I’m so used to the car now I had nearly forgotten she’s always talking. I’ll post a video as soon as I get my new camera.
  4. The rubber hose is fine, I know it looks pretty bad in the picture but that is actually just a thin latex cover that is peeling. I will give it a thorough look over though to be sure. The car did sit for a while but I've been driving it for a few months now. I'll go through the engine today and return with any findings. Thank you so much you seem to be insanely knowledgeable when it comes to these cars and I fully respect that.
  5. I did replace the oxygen sensor when I bought the car but I still have the old one. I don’t think it has anything to do with the idle problem but I’ve had many cars that had idle issues brought about by a bad oxygen sensor or two.
  6. Okay cool thanks for the info. No there is no BOV. This is my first turbo car so I only have common knowledge on how they function and how to maintenance & maintain them. There seems to be adequate slack on the cable but I’ll give it a try. Friends have actually recommended tightening the throttle cable but I don’t want to do that because the car idles fine for the most part. The oil in the distributer is deep in there and is nice and clean so I’m thinking it must be leaking in from the seal and not leaking in from spilt oil, plus it’s pretty clean on the outside not that it couldn’t have been cleaned by the previous owner. I’d take a picture but my I loaned my tools to a friend today so I can’t get the cap off. As for the gas pump here in California they have the nozzles with the boots. There are to holes at the beginning of the nozzle boot. when I take off the cap nothing happens but when I go to pump my gas fuel will start to eject out of these holes in vapor form (which is kind of scary considering all it would take to cause a fire would be a static shock from my hand as I reach to shut off the nozzle). I now have to pump slowly before pressure builds because after about 30 seconds of pumping the nozzle will begin spraying. Not all pumps do this and I’ve made sure that I’m pumping properly every time. It is one of the strangest automotive mysteries that has come my way in a while. I'm wondering if someone tried to siphon my gas because it didn't do this when I got the car. http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b166/rei_jaganshi/DSCN0420.jpg
  7. Thank you for all the info on the 86, I knew It had a different MAP but didn’t know it was so sensitive and now I know not to swap the injectors like I was planning. Recently the car has started to have an intermediate idling issue. Most of the time it will run fine but sometimes (mostly at stops) the idle will drop way low like 500 rpm. The car will still run and be a little rough. Since it doesn’t happen all the time it’s had to pinpoint. I changed the spark plugs and cap but when I looked into the distributor I saw that oil was getting in. That could be the cause but I’m not sure. At the same time as this happened I’ll go to pump my gas and the gas nozzle will spray gas out of its vents not sure it that’s related to the idle issue but it is quite strange and I haven’t been able to find any info on it. http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b166/rei_jaganshi/DSCN0276.jpg
  8. Honestly wondering or is there a worthwhile group on Facebook. The question and answer section Is great and all the members of Starquest have been verry nice. I'd just like to know if there's a place to go that is easyier for newcomers? I feel like im going to be just another one of those guys who post a few things logs on 4 times and never returns other than to peruse the question and answers. http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b166/rei_jaganshi/DSCN0413.jpg
  9. I'll take some photos when the sun comes out. It has the digital dash and the talking voice. As well as the seatbelts that are attached to the door. A few times squeezing the crap out of me and I've learned to release the seat belt before exiting. It's a 5 speed manual with a maroon interior no cracks in the dash but the leather seats are cracking.
  10. Good to know thank you. The Compression is good truoghout and the oils are changed religiously. I have noticed a few electrical hiccups. so I will look into that. the turbo does scare me a bit. but other than that it's a solid car
  11. Here's a little bit of what i've done. this is to an extra pop cover I had. I'm pretty good with my hands and if I do modify my car I would like it to have my own touch. http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b166/rei_jaganshi/popupstar.jpg
  12. Thank you for the info. Certainly going to have to look further into that. the car is an 86 and has just a few door dings and a crack in the passenger tail-light. I'm looking to rebuild the engine within the next year simply because reliability is very important to me. I'm completely in love with this car already and would like to keep it till some future apocalyptic band of scavengers pry it from my cold dead hands
  13. @-SFBMX88 Is that a Toyota Starlet? you must like them rare.
  14. .I can tell, they were very adamant about reading through the faq before posting so I don't want to look like a d*** if I have a question. It's my first turbo car and I know parts are hard to come by. I honestly havent seen one locally in over a year and pick and pull hasn't had one since I bought it. I'm a huge car nut so I have general knowledge on just about every car. I havn't received a compliment on my car since I got it so thank you, I got it new tires the other day and everyone at the shop kept calling it a Daytona K-car. I would have corrected them but it was too funny to know they work on cars for a living.
