Yah, I've seen similar.  If the plugs look good, and fuel consumption and oil loss seem normal for how you drive it, those are normal figures.  I'd target 1000-1100 for cruise.  1400-1500 is normal for WOT and full boost, that's why headders get burnt up (carburized) eventually.  When you start seeing 1600* at full load, that's when you have concerning problems.  Some all out drag racers will see 1800*, but those are brief bursts.   If you are cooler than 1400* at full load, that's actually concerning, the tune is off.

The glowing effect also depends a lot on wall thickness of the headder.  I've seen a stock cast steel manifold glow too, but that was after climbing 4000* elevation in a short distance at mild but steady boost on a bone stock car.  thin wall headders heat up faster, but stock cast manifolds will glow too if kept hot long enough.

mine was still climbing but I was racing hghway speeds the other night.
