I used vise grips. A wooden handle is better because when a vise grips falls out of your hand things break
Use some lube it helps a lot for cutting and lets that wire slide smooth if it contact the windshield which it will
45 MINUTES and here it is. Today was 9 degrees this morning and very cold but I was still able to get it out (a warm day is recommended and far easier)

Be carefull with the top and bottom lip and pinch weld area. This is where you want to loop your wire and pull from the
inside along the plane of the windshield...
These corners will try to catch your wire...

Here is the bottom seal surface. Its pretty wide. If you puncture it twice and then get in the car and grab the two ends and pulled up along the plane of the windshield it works best.
