  1. Well I'm sorry to disapoint but my conquest is gone. The bright side of the story is I got a 87 supra out of the deal. I would like to stick around though, I like the people here. You are all very helpful. And eventually I will have another starquest. Its only a matter of time till the need gets to me.
  2. My father in law had one of those on his farm for years. It had a blown motor. After 5 years he gave it to the fire co to chop up for practice with the jaws of life. If I would have known they were rare I would have tried to save it.
  3. Let me know when that monster is back up to speed. I wanna go for a ride in that beast.
  4. Is this a direct bolt on?
  5. Congrats man. Enjoy them while they're young. It doesn't take long for them to grow up. I have 3 girls of my own. My oldest will be 11 in oct. I have no idea where 11 years went. But that's a different story. Congrats again.
  6. that adapter looks like it would work but i cant say for sure
  7. No, this is not a direct bolt on turbo for starion. You will need a different manifold with correct turbo flange and different intercoler & turbo inlet pipe for this turbo and the v-band exhaust flange is for 3". This turbo is a Chinese made generic brand name turbo This is the email i recieved about the turbo
  8. I checked out the shaft on the intake side. no shaft play at all. could it be just the seal in there. why would it make so much noise?
  9. I was wandering the same thing. I sent the seller and email to find out some of the questions. I also believe you get what you pay for. I am having no luck finding a decent turbo for the right price. Even if it is a cheap knock-off if it holds up for 6 months or so (till i get the money for engine swap) id be happy. I though that the pic is probaly a generic photo and not necisarily what the turbo your paying for looks like. I will update if i find anything out.
  10. I use the AJUSA metal shim h/g. Worth the money imo.
  11. I was talking to a buddy of mine and we have a thought. He uses acetone to clean granite. It cools and evaporates much faster than methanol. I wonder if in a 50/50 mix with water this would also work. But acetone is flamable, but so is methanol. Its just a thought though. Also I though abought the acetone might be corosive to aluminum but I don't know. Just a thought. Maybe even work in a alky injection setup. Like I said I don't know about it being corosive, it is used to polish granite after all. Some one out there has to have thought of this before.
  12. I know that feeling. The need for speed is inherited. My dad used to do the samething. While I was having a blast. I used to egg him on. I'd say things like "hey pop this guy wants a race" or "show this guy what a real car runs like". Boy those were the good old days.
  13. There is a difference between a backfire and an afterfire. Back fire happens when the engine fires back through the intake. An afterfire( the irradic pops you hear from the exhaust when you let off the throttle) is unburnt fuel igniting in the exhaust because of the high heat of the pipes and gases. I know its not really what the question was about. I'm full of useless knowledge. Just ask my wife haha.
  14. Well I noticed on the ride to work this morning that there was some blue smoke coming out of the old girl. When I got to my destination I pulled the intake hose off the turbo output and the hose has a coating of oil. I think its safe to say that the turbo is shot. So now I guess I'm on the hunt for a cheap replacement. Maybe I'll get lucky and find a 16g for cheap. Haha yea right. Any how I think I figured out the problem. Later tonite I'll pull the intake off the front of the turbo and check the shaft for play to confirm. I'll be sure to keep every one updated.
