Hit_N_Run-player
more pics of the project car. When did you get it?
Turborusty
Got it a few weeks ago. It's rough, but it will live again and should turn out to ba a nice car. Don't really have many other pics except what you'll see in my 2.6L gallery. Here......http://www.26liter.us/gallery/thumbnails.php?album=393 This is what I'm using as inspiration for how we want it to turn out......this is not my car, but what I want it to look like. (without the mudflaps, of course) And ours will be Charcoal Gray instead of black. http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10070/Shelby-Z_Daytona_2.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10070/Shelby-Z_Daytona_3.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10070/Shelby-Z_Daytona_1.jpg Haven't made any progress aside from washing a few years of grime off of it. Progress will be slow as my son is very busy with just about every sport offered in school. Also picked this up a couple weeks ago. Just had to save it from rotting away under some guy's tree. I'm trying to pawn it off to the Turbo-Dodge guys as I don't particularly like these. http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10070/100_3882.JPGhttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10070/100_3878.JPG[/img]

AndyW
You may want to rethink what you let that Shadow go for Rusty. there were only 1000 of those made. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Dodge-Shado...1QQcmdZViewItem
Turborusty
That's awesome that that guy got that much $$ for that car, but look at the condition of that one and the mileage too!!! It's nearly a new car. Mine's #228 of 1,000 and it does have a clean title and 96k miles. But it is rough.......The interior is ripped out and what's left of it is in so-so condition. There's evidence that it was wrecked pretty hard in the pass. front as half of the rad. support and a shock tower have been replaced. The work was done well though and the body appears to be nice and straight after the repair. It really needs a complete restoration, and I don't have the heart to do that with something I don't really like. If this one was anything like that one, I'd keep it. I bought it for $400 and listed it for $1,200. I'm not trying to get rich off it, but I think it's a fair price. Turborusty
Turborusty
Updated............I traded the Shelby CSX-T off and got this. We're going to use this for my son's car rather than the blue one. Couldn't pass up the deal on it. I paid $400 for the car I traded for this one. It's an '86 CS edition with T-tops/leather/5-spd.....a far better starting point than the other one. http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10070/100_3953.JPG I'll post more pics when I get it cleaned up. Casey_L
Out of curiosity why didn't you set him up with a Starion?
MontyTSI
the perfomance cars (turbo shelbys) are rare but all the parts that need to be regularily replaced are plentiful(or body panels if they are wrecked). For that reason alone those cars make more sense for a young driver.
shift1313
one thing you didnt mention was the 69 bird on the trailer. What happened to it??? And why does it have 80s TA wheels on it?
Turborusty
Monty is correct; parts are cheap and there are 2 million others out there with parts that bolt right on. It's also FWD and a little less power than a stock Quest so that's a good starting point for a first-time driver. I wasn't going to set him loose with a high-torque RWD car as a young teen. Plus, you can't get a Quest with T-tops :) Shift........I posted a while back in the BS section about my road-trip to AZ. My dad gave that '69 to my brother so we trailered it from Castle Rock, WA to Sierra Vista, AZ (near the Mex. border) behind my Durango in the middle of the summer. That pic is just over the CA/AZ border and it was 107* outside. I burned my hands and knees just crouching to look under the "D". It was a cool trip. Here's the original thread with some more pics.http://www.starquestclub.com/forums/viewto...ghlight=arizona The Firebird is a 350/auto car and my brother is in the process of restoring it to have a fun muscle car. The wheels came on it. Turborusty

Fattire4me
The datona isn't a bad idea for a kid's first car! My son will be driving in 3 years... that gives me enough time to find something & hopefully ensure that it's road-worthy. I never considered one of those... I was considering a 4cy toyota truck but I guess it all comes down to what's available for the $$$!I'm also a little jealous of all the parking & garage that you have at what I assume it YOUR house! Yeah, that's home. The FWD chrysler cars are cheap and plentiful if it's something you'd want to consider. Toyotas are also good starters but around here, they don't go cheap for a decent one. I've got to get rid of the blue Daytona soon so I can get the black one parked inside. Turborusty
Fattire4me
It will just come down to whats available for cheap (that doesn't need massive rapairs!) #-o
Turborusty
Sold the Audi and bought this for the wife to drive. It's far less fun but is bigger, much less expensive to own and maintain, and easier to work on. It has the PHP (performance handling package) and a 253Hp OHC V6. http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10070/Copy_of_100_0263.JPGhttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10070/Copy_of_100_0265.JPGhttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10070/Copy_of_100_0264.JPGhttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10070/Copy_of_100_0270.JPG Here's the engine when we brought it home http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10070/Copy_of_100_0271.JPG And here's after a little rinse down with Simple Green. http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10070/100_0319.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/10070/100_0316.jpg Turborusty
Fattire4me
Looks identical to ours... except for the color...you have the autostick & infinity sound, right?
Turborusty
Yeah, they all came with those 2 options but there are 2 different Infinity systems. Base Infinity I system has a 240 watt amp and 9 spkrs in 7 locations. The optional system InfinityII has 11 spkrs in 9 locations and a 360 watt amp. You can tell the difference by the amp location. The InfinityI system has the amo in the passenger kick-panel. The Infinity II locates the amp on the passenger side trunk wall and also has speakers in the rear doors, the Infinity I does not. I'll be doing the timing belt / tensioner / water pump with my tax return. Turborusty
