  2. Jeeeeeeeeeez why dont you guys just get a copper gasket or alum ??? trim to fit and put a stock gasket on with it and voila no problemo!!!!! btw mine has no gasket and it doesnt leak barely at all. The heat kinda makes it seal after a while just keep tightening it every once in a while ( DONT OVER TIGHTEN) and it works just fine! If you are a crazed maniac and have to have it perrrrrrrrfect then yea I would have to bow down to kelly and get one of his!!!
  3. question...... Ive got way too much positive camber on my driver side front wheel !!!! Is there really no way to adjust the camber ???? It is making my car pull to the left, any help????
  4. Ok the biggest restriction on the car (stock) is the downpipe w/ cat (well there are plenty of other restrictive parts on these cars but if you want to turn the boost up a little this is a must!!!!) OK you will have to buy.......................TA DA, a header reducer (3 inch to 2&1/2) Guess what it bolts right to the back of the turbo, but you must grind it a little to squeeze by the little plate with 3 bolts in it (waste gate acess plate) do this and the next step would be to drill a hole for the o2 sensor and weld either an o2 bung or I used a nut from the hardware store and welded it in there. after that either get the rest made or you can use 2 pieces of flex pipe (with a small length of 2&1/2 in the middle), then use a pipe reducer from 2&1/2 to the size of the stock exhaust!!!! Oh you must cut the stock exhaust so it will fit and if you want cheap RACEREADY exhaust do like me and put a dump in there twist off 3 wingnuts and voila wide open exhaust!!!! and if you want to experiment with different backpressures use washers to space the plate away from the dump!!! Oh yea it will be really loud wide open and I mean loud!!!!!! They sell most of this stuff at advanced auto so go check it out !!!!! The flex pipe is temporary but has given me no problems for over 2 months now!!!!! Flexpipe- $5ea. (need 2) 2&1/2 pipe- $5ea. header reducer $20pr. (20 +or-5) exh. clamps $2ea. (need 2&1/2's and size for pipe reducer) dump $20 (not at advanced) nut for o2 $ 1 (from hardware store)
  5. UPDATE UPDATE! I measures my installed height today it was 1.530 on the caravan head with the shims in place (.070) so it was 1.6 when I started. Now the disturbing news the quest head was 1.570 when I started, WHY ...... I dont know but it was.
  6. check out www.t-racing.com/conquest.htm ,click on free mods, hope you like ;D
  7. I dont know why these valves are different height but they definately are. You can set them side by side and see that they are, install them in the head same thing. It was a dial indicator i used(measures inside and outside dimensions to the thousandth of an inch) I know there is a name for this tool but i forget what it is.(I thought it was micrometer for some reason :-[.) There is no way around it I had to use these shims or I would float the valves way early. If I did not measure the two different valves I would have did alot of work just to take it all apart and do it again. I wish I knew the year caravan that I got the head from, I do know that it was an older one (older style square light front end) but everyone should definately measure b4 puttin anything together. Neither of these heads had valve jobs or anything either.
  8. whoaaaaa, the height is indeed different! Measured with a micrometer both heads with valves and springs installed the difference was about .030 +or- .05. I measured from the bottom of the top retainers (where the spring touches it) to where the spring touches at the bottom (the bottom retainer that is on the heads) so what I did was got some shims (.070) .030 to make up the difference and .040 to add some pressure (Shelby recommends .060 to get eighty some pounds of installed pressure so I went a conservative .040) Ohh It does not bind either just so every one knows or was wondering! ;D
  9. If it is indeed a 2.6 head and not a 2.5 use the valves that came with it and use quest springs. if the valves are longer than your quest valves use .030 shims under the springs to get the right installed height add another .030 to older springs to up the pressure a bit (no valve float good).
  10. was that on the caravan head w/ caravan valves or on the stock head? older caravan heads have longer valves so you need to shim the springs .030 just to get them to the right installed height so do I add .060 on top of that?
  11. Hey guess what! Valve spring shims for a mopar 440 fit our heads. The ones I have are 15 thousandths and Im sure you can get other sizes and I bet other shims might work also, just take the little bottom retainer with you to your local speed shop and match em up. 15 thousanths should be good but you can go a little thicker if you want dont go too big cause you dont want them springs to bind. You will need at least 30 thousandths If you are using an old caravan head with caravan valves, caravan retainers/keepers, and quest springs. Do 45 thousandths to add a little pressure to older quest springs.
  12. great idea but you can save alot of time by just ordering a set 4 a 1970 454 chevy or a 1970 302 ford. they are already put together and all you have to do is pick the 4 that fit good (with the coil wire of corse) and you have 4 left for someone else or for the next time to replace them. If your friend needs a coil wire too you can cut the coil wire in half and buy the socket end and the straight ended boots when you get them or order them from summit or jegs. you can order a seperate coil wire too if you have to, not expensive. ;D
