  1. I had bought a mustang 5.0 with a little work on it and a 5 speed to put in the shell, I wouldn't consider that slow for a 16 year old. The PO had a lexus motor he was going to try and stab in there, not sure why the automatic myself. I guess different strokes for different folks.
  2. I posted in the newbie section when I bought this car a few months ago for my son. Well, I had second thoughts on putting him in a small quick car, so I am going a different direction. It is a roller with no motor or transmission, it was a 5 speed. PO did buy some automatic parts because he was going to put one in. Inside is black cloth in excellent shape, I have a couple boxes full of parts. Also he told me the spare rear rims were the zero backspacing hard to find rims(not sure on this). Someone also said on here that the rear end was a newer model rear end. I would like to sell the car whole on here and keep it together, but if I have enough interest in it to get my money back I'll part out. I paid $600 for it, clear title, $600 is what I need out of it. I can't load pics now, but there is a pic under my introduction thread. Text me and I'll send some if interested. 3. I appreciate it hunter85, also thank you sotty. I'm new to the conquest, so all information helps me. Now I'm just concerned with my title saying 87.
  4. I recently had a job change so car was put on hold. I am now ready to start working on the car. Before putting the motor in I want to do the abs delete, can someone tell me if the above picture is what I need to connect together? When I bought car everything was removed. Thanks for any help.
  5. Thanks, I'm working on gathering up all the things for the motor swap. I do have a question for those of you who have done the ABS delete. When I bought the car most everything under the hood was removed, including brake lines. I have looked at the service manual(and searched the site), and think the two lines in the picture is what I need to tie together, is this correct? Thanks http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o218/thopper74/brakelines_zps4a109436.jpg
  6. Thanks, I've already threatened him 100 times. We have gps trackers on our work vehicles, I've told him one is going on the car and I can always see how fast he has been etc. Right now he is buying it. But once the car is complete, if it's crazy fast I won't put him in it. He learned how to drive a standard at 12, so I'm working with him.
  7. Thanks, I hope he does the same thing and keeps it. The only problem I see is me wanting to take it away from him lol. And I don't want to come across as one who thinks a motor swap is necessary. This car just didn't come with anything, and a 5.0 seems easier and cheaper. If I had the stock motor and transmission I'd leave it alone.
  8. I travel a lot with my job, I am going to go through it and make it as reliable as I can for him while I'm gone. Here is a picture of him with it. I have the piece missing in the front, and I also got an extra set of 16x9 rear wheels. Interior is perfect. I'm not going to cut corners, but I am trying to shop smart and do this on a budget. http://i121.photobucket.com/albums/o218/thopper74/Mobile%20Uploads/image_zps5a28d557.jpg
  9. I'm from Mississippi, me and my 14 year old son was looking for a father/son project for his first car. Something we could work on together and he could learn about the vehicle at the same time. We found a 87 wide body Fiji blue roller. He loved the car, he chose this 1987 for his first vehicle. I found this forum the day we bought the car, and the last three weeks I've poured over it gathering information. So far I've bought a 5.0 and a t5 at a bargain. Thanks for all the valuable information and I'll update the build as I go. He gets his permit in October, hope to have it going by then. I'll try to get a pic of it posted soon.
