Killtodie
Planning my oil change early this time. All the retail stores around only sell a FRAM filter. I hear WIX is good but no one sells them locally. First, what filter do you recommend and where can I buy it

cyberquest
1st choice when i have the money. cutaways have shown mobil one filters are almost identical to a K&N oil filter. http://mobil1lubeexpress.ca/ESW/Images/m1_filter_top.gif Second choice and normally what i run, what on mine right now. (advanvced auto parts) http://www.carparts.com/wcsstore/carparts/images/imagecache/G_28611G_SW_1.jpg 3rd choice, when if they are out of stock on the puralators. ucw458
how many times are you gonna have an oil filter discussion? cyberquest
the purolator is a pepboys brand, is it not? i've never seen a bosch filter anywhere. here i walked around my garage with my camera for you so you have pics to help make your choice. AUTOZONE.http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e82/silverquest/BlackQuest/quest2010.jpg ADVANCED AUTO PARTS.http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b343/vcyberbob/Misc%20Quest%20Pics/car003.jpg O'REILYShttp://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b343/vcyberbob/Misc%20Quest%20Pics/car002.jpg whats more important about oil changes then the filter is changing it on a regular basis. i like the puraltor cause i know in test and cutaways its scored well and got good reviews. its also regular price in compairison to say the more expensive WIX filter. find one on sale and buy more then one, then like dad does change it every 2000 instead of 3000 and your car will love you for it. oil has detergent in it, that detergent helps keep your motor CLEAN. so worry more about more frequent changes then what type of filter to run. h3r3tic
Autozone carries the s3950 stp filter, always in stock by me. its like 4 bucks. and a gallon of autozone 20w-50 like 12 bucks. Never lets me down every 3k I change it and it still looks clean when its drained. Autozone oil is Costal oil just in a orange bottle.

19cturbo
Recommendations are not discussions. Buy filter X is a recommendation DONT BUY FILTER X BUY FILTER Y is a discussion. I want non of that. pull your head out of your ars! i mean really.. go buy a fitler, obviously if you havent noticed, most people run something different, and thats what they stick to.. its like oil.. some older men will swear by and oil. like havoline.. they will put everything they have on it that its better.. and house brand sucks.. well if you ever read the labels house brand oil. i.e. autozone labeled oil is just rebottled penzoil.. its just how people are.. now back to the filters... dad runs stp, cyberquest prefers mobil one, then puralator.. i run mobil one or puralator.. does that mean that me and cyberquest are right and dad is wrong? no.. it just means we prefer to run these over the others, why? because we have ran them with no problms and they have good reviews.. go to your local parts store and get a damn filter, if you can find a wix, stp, mobile one, bosch, k&n, buy one! i know you cant sit there and tell me that no parts store around you sells them! now to make this simple for you!!!! go to the store and buy a damn filter!!!!!!! Tipsysmile
I just use a coffee filter.. Works good for me.. But in all honesty. Get what ever you can get.. I personally dont really worry about a brand, but like stated earlier, I worry about when to change my oil.. No sense in knocking your head into a wall over one brand of filter versus the other.. MoltoMario
I called NAPA, those K&N are not available. Where can I buy them online for a good price? Yea you really do need to learn to use Google or the search button. Anyway Summitracing has filters and they will probably be just as cheap as anywhere else BTW my previous mistake the part number is HP-1005. the 1008 number is for my Miata http://www.summitracing.com/parts/KNN-HP-1005/
