Brand New Conquest for sale on eBay

Recommended Posts

Check this out, this is the cleanest Conquest that I have ever seen. Red and I offered the guy 9500 dollars cash which I never thought I would ever offer for a Conquest but dam that car is brand new. I am not a fan of the red but this is literally a museum piece. Gorgeous. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chrysler-Other-TSi-Hatchback-2-Door-1988-chrysler-conquest-tsi-hatchback-2-door-2-6-l-/151123675400?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item232fac4908&vxp=mtr

I wonder why no front pic? I want to see that 24k air-dam!

I asked for that and am waiting to hear back, anyone that knows these cars know that the front air dam and sticker is, the kiss of legit or death. Reasonability has gotten the best of me but dam this is the nicest Starquest I have ever seen. If it is legit then it is one of the top 5 in the country. 10 grand is my cutoff on any condition quest, but this is money. Edited by TSIboostman

I wouldn't call asking for more detailed information hating.

<Rant>

It seems for some the default setting is "I want $X,XXX or even $XX,XXX" for my car, and you'll be lucky to get 1 or 2 pictures. Is there really anyone dumb enough to buy a car like this? If you want big money out of something, you had better have your ducks in a row.

As I've posted elsewhere here, posting more information saves YOUR time. I read for sale ads every day. I generally do not follow up on ones w/ no photos or IN ALL CAPS!!! If there are no photos (and a poor description), then the seller has to waste their time answering basic questions that would screen out a lot of non-buyers. Example (actual text of a recent ad):

87 chrysler conquest

Lost compression needs some interior but drove awesome when it was running hate to get rid of it but got bills make offer or trade text only xxx-xxxx

Let's say I have a pathological dislike for maroon interiors ;). I now have to call to see if it has one. When I call, it's an unwritten rule for Craigslist that sellers don't return calls/texts/emails or have VM boxes that are full.

Repeat this process for the person looking for a blue or black car.

Repeat this process for the person looking for a manual or automatic car.

Repeat this process for the person looking for.... you get the idea.

If the seller had taken just 5 minutes to post pics of the entire car, the engine, and the interior, they'd save probably 75% of needless inquiries. BTW, CL and eBay make adding pics very easy to do. Now they'll spend hours answering these questions.

If that car is MINT, the seller would post all sorts of pictures...and provide better details. Very vague in visuals and information.

For all prospective buyers know, that car is someone else's and parked in a lot, on a long list of cars to be stolen for the right deal.

I would say buyer beware with this one....unless someone on this site lives near it and can verify that is is actually what the listing says it is.

The car is legit, but not perfect. It has cooper tires and the a/c does not work right. Works when it wants to. It is RED which I do not care too much for and it is a Conquest. The rarer Starion is more desirable. I think it is in the top 5 for Conquests and brings over 10 grand easy. I just can not give over 10 grand for any Conquest/ Starion, that ends up in STI, Miata, Corvette, et. al. cars range. I almost bought an all original 70 340 Cuda for 18 so that includes muscle cars. It is nice though and a primo example, I am sure someone will want it.

There's an 87 listed on this site that is in way better condition, imo, and far less asking price. Someone else had one for sale when I was looking for one that was MINT, and asking way less than this one on eBay.

And 15K for a car with a/c problems, common red, not that rare...no thanks. If I'm going to spend that much $$$ on one, I want everything to work. I don't care too much for red and it seems there are tons of red one's around. A Starion, yes, much more rare in that condition.

10K-15K...., At least provide pictures of everything, a video, and a longer, more detailed description.

I too think it's a repaint. The conquests have a black bumper two tone paint with the body color. This one is a solid red color. As I remember all Conquest have the black part on the rare bumper. With all that appears to be wrong with this car, it's over priced....period - IMO.

Cheers,

Actually the car bumper color is correct in color for an 1988 and 1989. The rear black bumper were used up til 1987 flatty and wide bodies. After that the complete color bumper were used.

this is a true statement, Plus the decals are original to the car and not reprints. It would be hard to fake this car.

I have had One Starion 83 (with Black bumper) and flatty quest with the the same. Call me corn-fused but could this be a dealer upgrade or mod. I have a rubberized rear spoiler and was told this was a dealer item only. I am looking for more documentation or build sheets which would elaborate on what is fact or fiction as there a little variances on these cars from time to time?

SO far I don't have anything definitive at this time....If some one his this information or reference point this would be great as I;d like to document these sort of things in the FAQ section or sections. Thanks for your input. I am in no way doubting what anyone is saying, for it could be right on. Most of the information like this is one car site like this one and the Google or Wiki just has a high level overview at best.

Cheers,

Jim
