well i have a miss at idle and cruise. good step on the gas and it runs fine.

changed plugs, gapped to 28

new NGK wires

41 PSI fuel pressure

no air leaks i can see or hear or can find.

i want to do a compression test to see results.

i cant do a leak down test. no tools for that.

any other suggestions would be great.

i have tried many things for this problem and

cannot figure it out for the life of me. it is killing

me. i need a smooth running car.

well i figured out half of my problem.

the miss is due to the center brush on the cap not making contact to the rotor.

the spring under the brush was weak and the brush was flush and did not protrude

out at all. the spark was arcing. i replaced the cap and spark miss is gone.

in the pic below you can see the center brush sticking out a bit. I know this is not

a starquest cap but you can see the brush sticking out.

now to fix my fuel issue.

I got a similar problem but it goes lean for a split second at idle and cruise. Goes away after unplugging oxygen sensor. At idle it will go from 12.8 to 16 on afr gauge. Returning oxygen sensor to see if it does better

Cap and rotor is the first thing i replace in the ignition system. I have seen them degrade in less then 5k miles.

The car in the video sounds like it has a secondary air filter problem or bad check valve.

Is this the car with the smoking problem?

Im having misfire issues pretty bad at idle. According to my afr gauge it seems to be a lean misfire, each time it misses it goes full lean then to 13-16...its kind of jumping all over the place. I recently upgraded my injectors from Fuel Injector Clinic 650/1150cc, could not having an adjustable FPR and raising the base fuel pressure cause this issue? I have an apexi safcII and I have to set the low throttle @ 800rpm to +30 just to get it to idle, but it idles like crap. Normal cruising is ok, I haven't went WOT since I'm still breaking in the motor.

And I get alot of popping from the exhaust during deceleration.

first check all plugs and wires.

when I had this problem I pulled one spark plug wire off at a tie while the car was running.

the misfire didn't seem to change much or at all.

I changed the cap and found my problem.

my fuel problem is my head gasket. I either cracked my head or bad gasket.

still looking in to it.

Check all your vacuum lines.

I bought the car as a shell and didn't come with much, I picked up a motor and got it rebuilt, so just about everything around it is new, vacuum hoses, coolant hoses, spark plugs, cap n rotor, ngk wires, fuel injector clips, fuel filter etc. Only 26 miles on the motor.

I'll look into trying a different cap. I still think it needs an adjustable FPR, just need someone to confirm, if they had a similar issue related to mine
