StarQuestJoe Benefit and Car Show

Recommended Posts

As a few of you know Joe was in an accident at his home about a month ago and was badly burned. He has been in ICU at the Lehigh Valley burn unit in Allentown PA ever since in an induced coma. Many surgeries and grafts were done and it's been an uphill battle for our buddy ever since. Things are finally starting to look up, although there is a very long road to recovery ahead of Joe. As you can imagine the hospital bills are reaching astronomical levels.

Joe's family is hosting a Benefit and Car show on July 27 to help with some of the finances. For you facebook guys/gals here is a link to the event page.

If anyone would like to make a donation but can't make the event, PM me and I can help with that.

EDIT: Date revised

The event will be July 26th from approximately 11AM to 8PM at

Germania Hose Company

430 Foote Ave, Duryea, Pennsylvania 18642

Let's make this one to remember, because Joe deserves nothing less!

I received GREAT news today! Joe is finally sitting up, awake and alert! Even if it's only for short periods. I heard he even tried to laugh although the trach currently prevents that. He's also off the ventilator and on oxygen.

He's not out of the woods yet but things are looking very good. Thank God, it's about time

I read this thread several days ago and was just so shocked by the news I couldn't post. My wife just had a close friend leave the burn unit of Lehigh Valley a few weeks ago and to log on here and see that someone else I know is there was almost unbelievable. Joe is a great guy and has helped me out several times with my car - he's even given me parts for free. He's the first Starquest person I ever met from this board ... I'm very much praying for a full recovery. Unfortunately, I believe my family is leaving that day for vacation at the time of the show, but if anything changes or falls apart I will be there.

I talked to Joe today! Well ... we texted anyways. He's out of ICU and into a rehab facility. Rumor has it he may even be home this weekend and do outpatient rehab! He's a hurting unit but he's coming back around very fast!

  • 2 weeks later...

Well guys I think it time for a update. I made a stupid mistake a put gas on a camp fire in my yard. I'm guessing the can only had a little gas left in it. Well I went and put gas on the fire just to get rid of it because it sat all winter and didn't want to use it. So I threw it on the fire and the flame went up back to the can. It must of had vapors in and blew up spraying gas all over the left side of my body.

I tried the stop drop and roll but it didn't work. My friends tried to pat me out but that still didn't work made the flames bigger. Finally I told my friend to cut my shoes off. I ended up burning 35-40% of my body. Mainly my right leg. It's burned from foot to waste. Most of my lower stomach and a small spot on my chest. Also my inner left thigh

The good news is I'm recovering pretty fast for had happened. I work as hard as I can when I'm at rehab. I'm making progress everyday which is good.

Bad new is I can't drive a car yet. I have very bad nerve damage in my right leg. I have foot drop in my right foot, meaning I can't pick my right foot up. I can move it other ways just not up. So I have to wear a leg brace just to walk some what normal

It's going to be a very long road ahead of me. I will work my hardest to recover back to normal. The burn doctors said its goin to be 5 year goin to them
