  1. Yes it does. On this topic.... just over a week ago I was passing through Ohio on my way to Detroit and hit a little snow, which quickly turned into more of an ice mix. From Cincy to Detroit on I 75, I'm getting passed left and right by OH and MI plates. A lot of which I see losing control, mostly the 4x4s (there was one I never figured out.... I see him come from the median back UP onto the freeway, spin twice while crossing the freeway through traffic, and then backwards through the lawn missing several trees and somehow safely into a rest area parking lot - lucky SOB). I had backed it down though.... especially when I saw what looked like the remnants of a Pathfinder (or similar) on it's roof.... well what was left of the roof. I'm pretty sure that anyone in the front two seats was no longer, and if there were rear seat passengers, they'd be a little more likely to have survived. That "stuff" makes you think at least for a minute. Although I probably wouldn't have slowed much when I was a teenager...... I probably should mention I was going slow in particular due to the pickup I was driving.... those tires have seen better days, and a few too many powerslides.... dc
  2. Definitely true. Having moved from MI to AL, I can tell you for a fact that you can get way more for your money. It's not just the price of the house, it's the property taxes (25% here what I was paying in MI), insurance, etc. I don't know, I work with some old Chrysler union types, and they got those bases covered (there's a guy I work with had three now has two of the nicest Challengers I ever saw...). dc
  3. I noticed that, but I certainly don't think it was a teleprompter. I forget the interviewers name, but Obama put him on the spot with a comment where the interviewer looked kind of uncomfortable (something about the dog and the mother-in-law). It didn't feel like that would have been a teleprompter comment, the same with quite a few others. Seems to me I've heard something that when you look left you are thinking and there is something about lying I think even tied in with looking to the left, but don't quote me on any of that..... I did enjoy the interview overall, and my comfort level is much higher than it was with the current Pres. He even used a crazy idea of being honest with the general public (I guess we'll have to wait and see on that one). dc
  4. Got tagged by the 5-0 at 135 with an auto and that was after slowing down.... she was showing 145ish before I slowed. dc
  5. I have a cousin who is Special Forces, and he's been to Iraq several different times and Afghanistan at least once now. Taking some time off to go Navy Seal (I guess that takes 3 years or so). dc
  6. When I hear Obama referred to as "black" president, it just kinda indicates how far we have to go before race is not an issue. Not saying anything about your (jahjah) comments, just a general statement. I don't know exactly how you get called a racist for mentioning that, but at the same time, it is just politicians taking as much advantage of the population as possible. Of course race could have been a major part of the decision for some people, just like there are probably a whole s-load of people who voted for McCain/Palin because they're part of some crazy religion (no offense). I don't believe that people in general are intelligient enough to make a decision based on the facts, not the people or what religion they belong to, or even abortion rights (how long ago was Roe v. Wade?). So of course people are going to make a decision based on something silly like race. And speaking of racism, I think at the point when we can have a president with a different skin tone and not be concerned about him being assassinated because of the color of his skin, we will no longer have to have these conversations. Those comments have opened my eyes about some people, and just how racist they are.... (again comments not directed at you - just based off of the general topic roughly) dc
  7. I couldn't agree more with that statement. I have a friend who knew nothing about GWB either term leading up to the elections, but slapped stickers on his bumper and voted for him because he was a Republican. No other reason. People like that should not be allowed to vote.... and I'm not claiming I would pass the test, but I recognize the fact that it should exist.... dc
  8. I'm a bit of a Bama fan. And I'm pulling for Ok State as well. I'm just dying to see USC or Ohio State get dropped. Wilbon (PTI - ESPN) said he expects to see OSU and USC in the championship game, which to me would suck. Not to mention I think the PAC10 and BIG10 are both ridiculously overrated. I'm pretty impressed by the BIG12 this year though...... dc
  9. A wire brush and some bbq grill (high heat) spray paint work pretty good. dc
  10. Come up with a better excuse than morals. You'd be hard-pressed to convince me either of the candidates (or potential VPs) have any morals, but I cannot see how you could find better morals on McCain's side (I'd drop some of his history, but I think we've seen enough of that already). Way to be open-minded.... he didn't say you have to vote for Obama. There's plenty of reasons I could vote for either one of the candidates. Some would help me more personally, some would probably be in the better interest of the country and not necessarily in my best interest (which is more likely the direction I would go). dc
  11. I couldn't agree more with you Chip, thanks for clarifying for StarV8. If she puts herself out there like that, I am well within my rights to say whatever I feel about it. If Obama wants to use his right to keep as much of his life private as he wants, that's fine by me (which could change the way some people vote). That was how I took a lot of it.... I don't completely know all of their views/goals (probably not much different than most voters - although at least I recognize it). Biden did seem to do a much better job of clarifying both of their views/goals than Palin, although I'm not sure if that's just him talking or if that is exactly where both of their plans fall. dc
  12. Sorry StarV8, but that is one of the more ignorant things I've heard in quite a while. Nice job assuming. I suppose that means I believe it being christian. Back to the debate.... I don't see any way that Biden didn't win. And I'm not sure how it happened, but he managed to get the last word on many of the topics, which I thought was kinda bad for her (and the rep party). I also really liked her "soccer mom" crap getting shot down when he pulled out his single father business and his tear-jerk moment. And I know I'm not the first (or probably last) but I could not stand her overuse of "maverick" and "also." Not to mention she really didn't seem to respond to some of the questions....... dc
  13. Could be worse, you could be a Lions fan. I'm ready to give up on them for good. It looked like they might come back (from the 21-0 start), but then career-backup Kitna pops up a couple of nice ints. I loved the one play to Jennings, where it looked like he was gonna juke half the Lions D onto their backs.... How bout McFadden? I wonder how much of that he's gonna have the rest of the season? dc
  14. Michael Turner wasn't bad, but it was against Detroit (my team). I was most impressed with Forte and Rodgers. The Vikings/Packers game looked like it might go the route of the SD/CAR game until Jackson threw the ball to ?? And man did the Broncos tear up the Raiders.... I was bummed. dc
