GCNTSi
That Is AWESOME! I always wanted to do this. Has anyone else ever completed a custom gullwing on our cars, or are you the first to attempt it? I just worry about losing the rigidity of the body. Have you strengthed the A pillar? What are you planning on using to lift it? Have you measured the weight of it? Sorry for all the Q's but I've alwyas thought it'd be awesome to have but soo many challanges to overcome. Definetely keep us informed. -GCNTSi.

GCNTSi
That Is AWESOME! I always wanted to do this. Has anyone else ever completed a custom gullwing on our cars, or are you the first to attempt it? look at your own avatar and it will answer your own question The one in my avatar was made by Mitsu, it came as a gullwing from the factory. What I meant was, has anyone else attampted to do this other than the manufacturer. -GCNTSi.

pagemo
figured out the weatherstripping yet? Yeah actually I think the weather strip is going to be the easy part, but I am copying ideas from several vehicles including other gullwing cars. No its not running yet still in pieces but the good news is that virtually all of the parts are new or rebuilt and ready to go back on the car. I have to finish the doors before paint and reassembly though  I just worry about losing the rigidity of the body. Have you strengthed the A pillar? What are you planning on using to lift it? Our car with the roof cut out will sag several inches and looses a tremndous amount of rigidity so everyone has been correct with the worries over the structure. Yes I have had to build in subframe connectors as well as permanent new sills, this with the added structure built in the roof hindge section it is actually very ridgid now. I do plan to add a roll cage as well though. The doors will lift with a single gas strut, like the origanal mitsubishi cars. The doors are actually lighter(including roof section) now than the factory door. I will have a strut on in the next day or so.... if there had not been so many ball games on today it would have been working today The hinges and door gap have taken the longest as well as attaching the roof to the door. some of these are older and have changed and been cleaned up but you can ge the idea below.I will post some picts of the other structural modshttp://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg1/pagemo/DSCI1354.jpghttp://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg1/pagemo/DSCI1353.jpghttp://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg1/pagemo/DSCI1350.jpg

Silver87
Pretty sweet man! I've been wanting to do this to my car for some time. Went so far as to find and buy a FSM for the DeLorean to see how they were done. Once I get my other projects done and find a garage of my own I'll take a crack at this mod. pagemo
when you get your mind set on something you don't mess around AJ, I could kick my own A$$ around the block once or twice for that  ..but I hope it comes out like I think it will I just miss driving it and wish I had picked a different car to do this to, my car was a really clean 89 and in looking back at it I should have started with a roller. you live and you learn right anyway thanks for the support and i will be updating you as it goes. I mounted the gas strut tonight but it is not quite strong enough to lift the door so I need to locate some stronger struts now.

pagemo
Awesome man! Paint it metallic silver and get som DeLorean wheels. Are they 5 l No Delorean... I still want it to look like a starquest, thats the main reason I decided not to do a custom front end, I like the lines of the conquest just wanted the gullwing doors like the original cars mitsubishi did. I have some custom wheels to go on it but I am still up in the air about going with polished SHP wheels? I will have to wait until it is painted to see which way I want to go? nickkrmr
thats great, , you know you can buy a hinge kit so the doors open like the lamboguine, sorry for the spelling, there around 1700 per door but there pretty cool also, if i had the extra money i would buy them, just a little welding required,
Truth
Lamborghini doors are played out though... you see everything with those. Even 300c's   I love me some ingenuity. As long as it isn't a motor swap
nickkrmr
those doors look so much better than the lambourginie but alot more work and time, but i bet its worth it when your done, wish i had the time and to actually know how to do that, i might attempt it,
jwrape
Yea, the gullwing doors are much more original that the "Lambo" doors. But then again the old Lambo's had gullwings doors as well so they are both Lambo doors. The gullwings doors are much more unique. i love it.
