Bag-O-Chips
Has anyone researched the details on the RWD transmission bolted on the 2.4L 4G64 equipped Montero Sport? The 2.4 Montero sport came equipped with a 5 speed R5M21 and bolts on the Wide block. Not only that but It's also a Hydraulic Clutch setup. joey_crandall
also looking around i found an article on austarion about mitusboshi vans having that transmission. but someone else said that you couldnt get 5 spd vans in the US. but it seems doable if you could find one. Bag-O-Chips
The only reason I ask is, I've already grabbed the 4.22 gears from this Montero sport and was wondering if the construction/gearing was beefier than the Stock KM132-CNL that the SQ's come with. StarquestRescue
There were surly improvements made, but i can;t see the torque capacity being any better than the 88-89 sq trans. Plus it has truck gear ratios.
Bag-O-Chips
Thats what I was afraid of, darn shame though... I was hoping it would be equiped for a higher torque load but now as i look further into it, it's still coupled to a 2.4 . Oh well, I might as well grab the motor, ECU, and wire harness. It's already setup for MPI, and wouldn't be much work to build.
