Welp the G54b was just not making me happy anymore so I yanked it out and found an LS1 to replace it with.

I pulled the motor apart and found the #8 rod had spun pretty bad and it wasn't worth saving so I found another rotating assembly.

Almost all torn down trying to getting the cam bearings out.

The cylinders all honed and ready to be assembled.

I will update as a get more done but it has been too cold to work lately so progress will be slow :)

From 1998-2000, LS1 equipped Camaros and Firebirds had EGR and an electric air pump. 1997 and on LS1 Corvettes had only the air pump included it its emission control system. So if you decided to BAR it, you would need the electric air pump/evap/cats/sensors/mil(service engine soon light/check engine light). Oh, and also an EO# tag on your headers :D Edited by SFBMX88

i second that. you got my support scotty. this is going to be a nice build when your done.

how much hp you planning on ending up with.

Stock power will be fine for now Ill mod it later. It may get a cam before i finish building it.

Is it gonna be n/a?

Yep n/a

If it had been a good engine, do you think the total cost to install would be less than 2k?

Have you checked the price on a used ls1? There going up, $3500 unrebuilt +$5000 rebuilt

you going to boost that Alum block?

or baby cam it?

you could boost 5psi safe for years, are they over 10:1 comp ratio stock?

or do FlexFuel and boost it more.

Ill be happy with this thing just running, time for me to focus on my house, welding rig, and buying more property.

Well I have hit my first set back, I went to drive in the new cam bearings and every one was gouged. I called summit and they are sending new ones out on Monday.

Awesome. The only thing I'm confused about is you saying its too cold outside to work.... Lol. Sucks you guys got to worry about emissions....

It gets about 30* in my garage = no fun when you are used to 70-80*...emissions isn't too bad though just have to pay.

Intake, MSIII, and Long tubes will do 400whp+ EASY with a good tune. Just make sure to chuck some upgraded pushrods in there while your at it. Stockers like to bend. The good Lord had his hand in the development of the LS engines.

Building an LS1 for 2K? How do yo do that. I see these on ebay for 3500.00? However you did it, congrats. It's a fantastic motor and weighs nothing for a v8. I would bring it up to 400 HP and drive the daylights out of it. Then NOS it. Just a 75 or 100 shot. You wouldn't use it very often but it's a riot to have. NOS is big fun!.....O.K.....maybe you would use it a bit....:-)
