  1. Hi, the 5 speed shifter boot on my 88 Conquest has started to peel, I thought it was real leather but its actually a vinyl "leatherette" man made material. Either the rubber boot style or a replacement "leatherete" or leather boot will do. It needs to be in as new condition or if anyone knows where/how I could source a shifter boot would be very helpful as I'm very new to SQC. My car is an 88 Conquest, thanks in advance!
  2. Good, I was hoping a parts car was a last resort. It would be fun though to have a second SC I could mod out for more performance, ect. but I only have so much garage space and I guess the straight line horsepower is where my Chevelle comes in. Well anyway, rest assured I'm a good steward of all things SC, and I will do my part part by preserving my banana as a factory stocker to the best of my ability.
  3. Thanks Robert. I really appreciate the nice comments and am very happy to be aboard. My biggest concern is whether I'll eventually need to free up space for essentially a parts car. Since nothing has needed replaced yet I'm kinda stressing about the day when something does go wrong and I'll be needing parts. Are my concerns valid or not so much...?
  4. Thanks for all the great responses! I'll attempt to answer an earlier question about why it was in storage. No simple answer other than typical stuff like life just gets busy. Career interests, other interests and hobbies, and before I knew it I was faced with a choice, keep driving it and run the wheels off or just put it away and hope to preserve it for another day way down the road. It was bought outright so at the time I wasn't making payments on a car a wasn't driving so to speak. I think it's been stored away since '95 even tho prior to that it was hardly ever driven. I guess I thought these cars were special, really ahead of their time in many ways. Even though I knew it really wasn't worth much, as the years went by I wanted to have one that could serve as a good reference as to how these looked right off the production line. My main hobby is my '70 Chevelle SS454 and that is also how I present that car- as stock from the factory. I will get around to cleaning the Quest up with a nice all around detail and go from there. I sure forgot how much fun these are to drive!
  5. Hello all. I've lurked around on here since 2006 so I guess it's finally time to say hi and introduce my SQ. And BTW, what a great resource this site is for all SQ owners! I know chiplee and he has been aware of my car for some time now but hasn't seen it in person or through pics so I promised him that once I pulled it out of storage and got it back on the road I would post pics/info about the car on here so now that time has finally come. The rundown: 1988 Conquest all options minus SHP-darn! San Marino Yellow 5 Speed Presently only 38K original miles I am the original owner of the car * This car is 100% original, from the paint to the factory exhaust. Other than belts & hoses, and tires, nothing has been replaced or modified on this car. All equipment works from the stereo & power antenna to the factory climate control, power windows, mirrors, ect. It stills blows ice cold A/C. The only piece of degraded equipment on the car is the shifter boot which has begun to peel. No wear or cracks in leather interior or dash, and still has the factory Conquest floor mats in place. I still retain all the original dealership paperwork from when I purchased it new. I've included some pictures of the car with a caveat: I have not done any detailing to the car since it went into storage many, many, years ago so what you see on the photos are exactly how the car appears with absolutely no detailing inside or out. Just haven't had sufficient time to clean the car up yet. The car presently runs and drives as new. I hope to become more active on this site, I'm sure I'll be asking lots of questions. I've already sourced a ton of helpful info to help me better understand these great cars! Thanks for letting me say hi and one day I hope to get the car to Chrysler Nationals.
