  1. What kind of pistons? How many miles on the rebuild?
  2. I just found this on ebay and wondered if anybody knew the specifics. Â http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...;category=33742 This intake setup for Webbers is interesting as well: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...;category=36474
  3. Good point. I'll turn that on, but the problem with this option is that it hides it from other members of this board. I don't necessarily want to hide my email from other members, just from people or bots scanning the web for email addresses to spam. On my boards it was a pretty simple mod to change the member list page to check and see if the user if logged on if not it redirects them to the login page.
  4. Currently the member list can be scanned by any spambot. These bots scan pages for email addresses. I'm currently moving my web page and email accounts to a new server and found some mailboxes had email in them even though they were not actively being used. The only way these were found was by spam bots reading the links on the pages. My site isn't even listed with search engines but these address were still found. I have a number of email addresses including one that I only use on my own discussion forum. That email address has never had any spam 2+ years. One of my others (the one I use here) gets 15-20 spam emails a day. This of course made me wonder about all of the spam I've been getting lately so I did a search on my email address to see if it was easily found and one of the search results was my profile on this site. I don't know how hard it would be to hide the membership list from users who are not logged on but it on my board (phpBB) it was a pretty simple MOD. If a user wants to view the Memberlist it does a quick check to see if they are logged on, if they aren't they are redirected to the login page.
  5. I agree that you need to be careful, you need to find someone you can trust. Ask around. Talk to the machinest and find out what kind of experience they have with the engine. If they have no experience with the g54b I'd look somewhere else. My point about finding someone local had to do with trust and cost. TEP is very expensive in comparison and from the posts I've read they aren't too good at honoring their warrenties either.
  6. Check around on the net, and call local engine builders/machine shops. I was looking at the packages a while back, but after talking with a local machine shop they could rebuild the engine using the same parts (i.e. Kieth Black pistons, Clevelite Bearings, etc.) for around $1200 including all machine work and assembly. This was with me pulling the engine. They also had experience doing turbo G54B's as the owner has several turbo'd Dodge Raiders. Using the TEP parts and having someone do you machine work and you're own assembly will easily run over this amount. He said he would machine and sell me parts if I want to assemble, but it would only save me $100 to $150. He quoted me a price of $1600 to $1700 if I needed a new head.
