I got the SBC pulled out, so it's time to start addressing the front suspension.

I saw a post a few months ago that talked about replacing the stock spindles and struts with S14 parts, and it being a more or less bolt up deal. Since I am going to need to replace the front springs with something heavy enough to hold up an LS and Powerglide, and 240sx coilovers in various price points and quality are extremely common...

So of course now I can't find that post.

Is anyone running S14 spindles and coilovers? If so, I'd very much like to pick your brain.
If you're *also* running a S13/14 rack and pinion, I REALLY want to pick your brain.
If you're doing all of the above with an LSx/Automatic combination, I may fly out to wherever you are and buy you dinner.

Bueller?

Heres a few plps views on the legion motorsports coilovers.
Im also researching 240 rack swaps and have found a few different ways of attaching it. Biggest problem us getting the steering column to connect to the rack. If I find those links I'll post em up here for ya

Thanks, Redcat

I'm more looking for info on the S14 spindle swap. $200 coilovers for the win.

I'm already decided on a depowered s13 steering rack, but I'm curious about that and the s14 spindles.

I'm running the s13 spindles and coilovers. Also a Saturn sl1 manual steering rack and electric assist steering.

S13 spindles? Even better, if it's just as straight forward a swap. I wasn't sure if those would work.

I'm building a drag car, so the steering rack is only turning 15x3.5 fronts, and handling is SOOO not an issue. Just need heavy enough springs to keep the oil pan out of the pavement :: chuckle ::

Not quite bolt on. I took a set of s13 lca's and a set of quest lca's  and had them merged. Still had to drill some mounting holes for the sway bar.

s13 stuff is almost bolt-on. Either way, if you can do an engine swap, you'll figure out the suspension pretty easily. Unless you just want access to more brake options, no real need to swap that stuff. You can fab up the rack parts and connect it to the Starion knuckles. You have to extend the tie rods either way.

I've done a rack swap (Saturn SC2) on my car and done tons of research on both rack and suspension swap stuff. Personally what I'd do next time is a full crossmember, coilover, arms, steering rack, etc swap. It ensures that number one geometery wise everything is set up as it was designed other than caster (can be changed). Getting the crossmember to fit is simple, you already have to make motor mounts for the LS anyway, and then you know everything is purely bolt on.

Just my .02 cents

1987 Flatty Starion -- Widebody Conversion -- V-Mount Setup --  JDL Tubular Manifold  --  MX-6 Intake -- MS3-Pro -- AEM FPR  --  ARP head studs -- 3" hood exit exhaust -- Hahn Racecraft 16g --  Tial F38 Wastegate -- Tial Q Bov -- Short route piping -- 5 lug & LSD conversion -- Tubular Front End -- Manual Steering Rack Conversion -- Manual Brake Conversion -- Stack Digital Dash -- AEM UEGO -- D2 coilovers -- full GNT poly bushings & mounts -- four 8" rears -- car lightened significantly...  More to come!
