  1. Heres pics how they compare, I might have do a bit of trimming. http://img34.imageshack.us/img34/5596/dsci0180.jpg http://img413.imageshack.us/img413/8985/dsci0181s.jpg Might have to relocate the dash board too, if I want to use that shifter. J/k ing, Im sourcing the top mount hurst shifter for this trans, it'll put the shifter in the same spot as the stock trans. I need a shifter like this one- http://4speedtoploaders.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/media/OEM-Hurstshiftersmall.jpg
  2. I'm not sure yet, I have found hurst shifters that relocate the shifter itself to the top of the trans. I don't think the linkage will be the problem, just where the shifter wants to come out the top at. This trans is as small, if not smaller than the factory quest trans, I think it should fit ok.
  3. http://img7.imageshack.us/img7/653/dsci0155k.jpg Well heres the trans I'll be running for a while. Rusty but trusty, I hope. I'm wondering if this is the trans that the old saying "if u can't find'em grind'em" came from. Oh well, I think I might evan leave the shifter long like that for a while. If anything it'll work for mock up, at $25 on craigslist i don't think i did to bad.
  4. I like that starion with the big lights. I'd go with a little smaller head lights, throw some 5 spoke mags on and call it good. Also a little update with my swap. I found a srod trans on craiglist for $25 with everything to bolt it to my engine. So for $25 I think I'll run that for a little bit, while I source a good used t-5.
  5. clean head with the red cylinder head, the valves and cams in the boxes $75 fully assembled head $50 -might need to be shaved trans 5speed(not pictured) $50 in good working order distributor with msd coil $50 rad with fans $50 stock intercooler $25 Intake $50 Most parts came from a car with 90,000 miles on it. The parts from the car all ran and worked properly expcept for the fully assemble head which had the head gasket fail. I also have the block from the engine, it looks to me to be too far gone to be rebuilt, but if ur interested I can post pics and sell for $20 plus shipping, $20 only because of how much of a pain in the butt is was for me to ship a engine block the last time I did it. I live in flint, MI 48504. Prices do not include shipping. Pm me here for questions, and i'll send u my phone #. http://img682.imageshack.us/img682/2815/cam4head.jpg http://img96.imageshack.us/img96/5431/camin.jpg http://img153.imageshack.us/img153/3448/cleanhead2.jpg http://img707.imageshack.us/img707/9176/cleanhead1.jpg http://img843.imageshack.us/img843/9799/dizcoil.jpg http://img375.imageshack.us/img375/7325/fullhead1.jpg http://img717.imageshack.us/img717/6594/fullhead.jpg http://img46.imageshack.us/img46/8932/headwithcam.jpg http://img832.imageshack.us/img832/6866/intake1.jpg http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/702/intake2c.jpg http://img812.imageshack.us/img812/7617/intercooler2.jpg http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/4953/rad2j.jpg http://img843.imageshack.us/img843/8770/valves.jpg
  6. Ya but going out and buying a mustang is too easy, besides tons of em on the road. This car will be unique. I'm not saying I want to make it into a stang, just want to bring the muscle look out in it a bit more. Just ideas anyways, nothing ever turns out like the plan. I might just return it to stock, don't know yet. I want to do the kinda like on the old corvettes. Not wanting to change the front end much just recess the lights, i think it looks cool, and would look good on a quest. http://image.vetteweb.com/f/8951122+w750+st0/vemp_0702_07_z+kevlar_1980_corvette+aerodynamics_testing.jpg
  7. I like that car. Thats kinda what i had in mind. I do want to get rid of the flip up lights. I'm thinking using the stock lights, but recess mounting them where they'd normally sit. Also im thinking i want to go with a cowl hood, i like the smooth lines of a cowl a little better. I love the car, but the front end reminds me too much of a daytona.
  8. I picked up a 88 conquest a while back, I've been all over this forum reading. So far its been very helpful. The quest had a bad head gasket and the timing one tooth off. When i turned the timing back i found a rod knock. So I decided to rebuild the engine. Pull the engine apart to find its too far gone to reuse the block. I know i coulda found a 2.6, but didn't want too. Decided to go 302 instead. I found one on craigslists out of a 92 f150, guy was asking $75 for it. I figured why not take a look. The engine was still in the truck when i looked, it had 90k miles on it(which is the same as the quest perfect right). The engine has a leaky intake gasket, everything else is perfect ran great. I still need to do some body work to the quest(mainly it had some front end and roof damage but not severe), and I'm thinking of rebuilding the front end to look more like an old muscle car, or at least in that style-since the back end already looks that way. http://img85.imageshack.us/img85/7494/dsci0128o.jpg Uploaded with ImageShack.us http://img130.imageshack.us/img130/3860/dsci0129m.jpg Uploaded with ImageShack.us I'm still looking for a trans. I have a possible source on a t5. Also im going megasquirt, since future plans will be to go Twin Turbo.
