carguygibby
I have an Ebay knock-off BOV and a couple of other bits lying around so I thought I would try to come up with an alternative way to install one of the these on our cars. I've seen some utilize the existing hose and of course there are a couple of aftermarket OVCP's out there but I wanted one that would work without welding in a bung for the temperature sensor on my '86 Conquest. On EBay I then found this 2.5" flange adapter, a 2.5" to 1.75" reducer and a 2.5" to 1.75" 45 degree reducer that were long enough to reach the existing OVCP and I/C outlet. Then added a pair each of 2.5" and 2" T-bolt clamps and ended up with this. http://i663.photobucket.com/albums/uu353/carguygibby/IMG_20131020_161617_919_zps4fa33963.jpghttp://i663.photobucket.com/albums/uu353/carguygibby/IMG_20131020_163813_418_zpseb17c054.jpghttp://i663.photobucket.com/albums/uu353/carguygibby/IMG_20131020_163824_772_zpsdcd630f2.jpg Spliced in a T-piece for vacuum and I'm rolling around making PSSSST WHOOOSH noises with the best of them yo.It's a tight fit but works fine! Technology
Don't they run lik crap with BOV's? I threw mine away after installing it. Car ran like crap, would shut off on gear shifts. Yes. It was not due to a faulty blow off valve, poor installation, or anything like that.
screemin eagle
They stall because you are venting the bov into the atmosphere and not recirculating it back into your preturbo intake pipe. It causes a rich condition and some cars will stall or buck and hesitate.
patra_is_here
My car has been running fine for years with a BOV installed correctly.
polarisman14
The only cars that affects are suck-through MAF configuration cars. Ones running on a MAP sensor aren't affected by it. The reason why is the air is metered by the MAF which is on the intake tube pre-turbo and the OEM bypass valve dumps the air back into the system between the MAF and turbo. Blowing air off to the atmosphere makes the car go rich. The other issue is that if the BOV isn't shimmed correctly it will be open at idle (or whenever the throttle plate is closed) which can affect idle quality because the car is sucking air in through the BOV's outlet. DieHARDmitsu.
I've taken apart a knock off greddy type S BOV and a type RS. Junk is all I have to say. I've tried them too. These Ebay valves have crappy rubber diaphragms that don't function properly, the springs is also very soft; If you like your turbo, get a real greddy BOV and call it a day Edited January 19, 2013 by DieHARDmitsu.
screemin eagle
The real ones aren't much better. The type s leaks over 25psi and my rs the diaphragm blew up at the track running 30 psi. They were both real greddy.

speed racer
been using a 'crushed' 1st gen bov from an eclipse for yrs.vented to atmosphere..never had a prob.just put back on my car now that it long psychotic fuel injection issue is cured. Before I compressed the bov in a vise it didn't run for crap though.running a 1st gen MAF too.have aftermarket injectors from lower shores(lucas not the usualy delphis) and tookn a while to find a happy spot adjustment wise for TPS.the car wanted to idle with both injectors firing at stock setting.idk how others here made them work but they work for me now so....time to drive the frankenstien..
